1. REGISTRATION
1.1 Registration will be opened from 24 September 2010 to November 26, 2010, and must be made
ONLINE.
1.2 The exam registration implies that the applicant will be automatically registered in all the
graduate programs of the involved institutions. The candidate does not need to sign up separately in
the graduate institutions.
1.3 The student should submit the required documents through the website at registration. The
documents required are:
- Undergraduate Academic Achievements
- Master Degree Academic Achievements (where applicable)
- CPF or passport
1.4 The student must provide two (2) Letters of Recommendation from different teachers of their
knowledge. Letters should be filled in the online (click here) form. For students with a Master
Degree, one letter MUST be come from his(hers) advisor. Failing to meet this requirement must be
justified.
2. THE EXAM
2.1 The selection exam will be conducted in a single step, on November 29, 2010 from 13:00 to
17:00 (GMT) at the following location:

2.2 In addition to this site, the organizing committee will make efforts to provide the exam is also
applied, on the same day and time, in other locations distributed in Brazil and other countries.
Candidates who wish to take the examination elsewhere must manifest their wish by contacting the
exam coordinator prior to November, 26th 2010.
3. EXAM PROGRAM
The exam will consist of six questions, four of them being compulsory and two to be chosen among
four other options. The exam will be based on knowledge of the broad areas of graduate programs
in physics, listed below, together with their suggested bibliographies:

4. EXAM SITE
4.1 The candidate must attend the exam site at least 30 minutes early to check and sign the
attendance sheet. The candidate must hold a photo identity document.
4.2 The candidate must put his(hers) initials in all exam pages.
4.3 The exam will last (04) four hours, beginning at 13h (GMT).
4.4 No candidate shall be allowed entry to the exam room after 13h (GMT).
4.5 Candidates will not be allowed to consult any material.
4.6 Calculators and other electronic equipment such as cellular phones and notebooks will not be
allowed to be used during the exam.
4.7 Candidates will only be allowed to leave the exam room after 90 minutes of exam elapsed time.
4.8 Candidates are allowed to access restrooms only after the 60 minutes of the exam start. Access
to restrooms will be only allowed with an accompanying supervisor.
4.9 Draft notes produced during the exam will not be considered in the exam correction.
5. EXAM RESULTS
5.1 Each exam will be awarded a final score 00-10, with approximation up to second decimal place,
reflecting the candidates performance on the exam. The coordination of all graduate programs
involved will have access to all the notes, but they will not be made public in toto. Each candidate
will receive by mail or e-mail at the addresses indicated in the registration form, their final exam
results, as well as the general score distribution.
2.5 The final exam results will be published on December 8, 2010.
5.3 The applicant may request a review of his(hers) exam by 17:00 on 15 December 2010. The
review may only be requested by the candidate himself. After reviewing the exam, the review
grades assigned by the reviewer will be the final marks of candidates.
5.4 After the publication of the results, those considered approved will have to access the page
UNIPOSRIO and complement their inscriptions by selecting the institutions to which they wish to
apply. An oral interview will be held in a place to be announced after the exam results are
published.
6. THE USE OF THE RESULTS
6.1 Each graduate program will use the exam results for the selection and ranking of candidates
according to their own criteria. The acceptance or non-acceptance in a program does not imply
acceptance or non-acceptance into another program.
