Thanks to all of you who
supported the Breakfast
with St. Nicholas last Sunday. When I finally
got there after the 10:30 a.m. Mass, there was
still a large crowd and I am sure it was a great
success.
Obrigado a todos
vós, que apoiaram o Pequeno-almoço com o S. Nicolau no Domingo
passado. Quando, finalmente, lá cheguei, depois
da Missa das 10h30 da manhã, ainda estava
muita gente. E, tenho a certeza, que foi um
grande sucesso.
Ainda, outra das nossas Tradições do Advento… é um período do ano, que decorre rápido
como usualmente. Tenho a certeza, que estão todos ocupados com as preparações das festas. E, o
toque da neve, que tivemos o fim-de-semana passado foi suficiente para nos sentirmos bem. Até
mesmo o Sam se alegra, quando a neve cai e ele
tenta agarrar os flocos na sua boca ao andarmos.
Os meus agradecimentos, também, às Ladies Sodality pelo seu generoso cheque de
$1,500.00 da venda de doces… Nós vamos usá-lo
sabiamente!!
Continuamos a ter problemas aos Domingos de manhã nos parques de estacionamento.
Dois lembretes: Primeiro, os espaços ao lado da
igreja são só para os deficientes e para alguns
membros do pessoal. Por favor, respeite as necessidades que exigem uma chapa de deficiente.
Quando a Missa das 10h30 acaba é, também, a altura dos alunos da Catequese deixarem
as aulas. Quando as crianças estão no parque de
estacionamento, os carros devem esperar até as
crianças estarem nos seus próprios carros. Isto é,
obviamente, para a sua segurança e pedimos
para cumprirem.
Ainda, não arrumem os carros de modo a
bloquearem outros carros impedindo-os de
saírem.
Nunca pensei que ser um pastor, também,
incluía ser um polícia de tráfego … é a vida!!
Yet another one of our Advent Traditions…and the season moves along quickly as
usual. I am sure everyone is busy with his or
her holiday preparations. And the touch of
snow we had over last weekend was just
enough to set the mood. Even Sam brightens
up when the snow is falling and he tries to
catch the flakes in his mouth as we walk
along!
Thank you also to the Ladies Sodality
for their generous check of $1,500.00 from
their bake sale. We will use it wisely!!
We continue to have issues on Sunday
mornings in the parking lots. Two reminders:
First the spaces behind the church are restricted to handicapped and a few staff members. Please respect the needs that necessitate
a handicapped plate.
When the 10:30 Mass is letting out it is
also the time that CCD children are leaving
class. When children are in the parking lot
cars may not move but have to wait until
children are in their own cars. This obviously
is for safety sake and we ask you to comply.
Also please park in designated spaces
so that others are not blocked and cannot
leave.
Never thought that being a pastor
would entail also being a traffic policeman…
c’est la vie!!

The Pieta Group
A support group for parents of children
who have died will host an Annual Mass
on Monday, December 14th at 7:00 pm at
St. Michael Church. Family and friends
of anyone who has lost a child regardless of age are
encouraged to attend the Mass and reception. All are
welcome to honor their child at this special service.
Children remembered in the past will automatically be
listed in the program book. Additional names can be
included by calling Catherine at (978) 562-3016 or
Theresa at (978) 562-3798. Prior to start of the Mass the
candles are lit and as the family comes forward to the
altar a carnation is given as a token of remembrance. A
light supper will follow at the Parish Center and all
are invited to attend. Reverend Father Paul O’Malley
will be the Celebrant and Deacon Dan Crimmins will
give the homily.

We need candle bearers for all the Masses during Advent. If you have not signed up, please
consider adding this activity to your day as we await the
Christmas Season. Please see an usher or one of the
ministers and give them your name and what day you
wish to be part of the procession. There are forms in
the back of the Church and Chapel, and baskets to put

Obrigado a todos que responderam ao nosso
pedido para auxiliarem como voluntários na nossa recente Clínica da Gripe. A clínica teve um grande sucesso
por causa da vossa assistência.
Muito em breve, iremos começar com clínicas
para vacinar contra H1N1 (gripe suína), no Liceu de
Hudson e, mais uma vez, necessitamos da vossa ajuda.
Vai haver 8 clínicas entre Novembro e Fevereiro. Se
pode ajudar durante meio-dia ou o dia todo numa ou
mais clínicas, por favor, contacte Sam Wong do Board
of Health para 978-562-2020.
Não precisa de ser um membro do VRC para
participar. Mas o VRC está a recrutar membros, por isso,
tente juntar-se a este esforço. Nós temos necessidade de

We will soon be holding a series of H1N1 vaccination clinics at Hudson High School and again we need
your help. There will be 8 clinics held between November and February. If you would be willing to help out for
a half a day or all day for one or more clinics Please contact Sam Wong at the Board of Health at 978-562-2020.
You don’t have to be a member of the VRC to
participate. But the VRC is actively recruiting members
so please consider joining us in the ongoing effort. We
are in need of people with a variety of skills and talents
not just healthcare professionals. Membership is open to
all with an interest in helping. Education and training is
provided, free of charge.

Our December 3 drawing was filled with lots of
excitement and over 39 people attended. Again for the
second month in a row our big $1,000.00 winner was in
attendance…Mr. Ed Silveira! He had also won a $25
prize as well. Congratulations!!! Several of our members helped support the Saint Michael School January
Calendar by purchasing several as Christmas gifts.

Liturgy of the Word for children continues on Sunday,
at the 9:00 am Mass. All Children K-elementary age are
invited to come downstairs for the Liturgy of the Word
where the readings, explanations and reflections will be
in language easy for children to understand.

MEDUGORJE EVENING
Christmas Lights Display at
Fatima Shrine
On Friday evening, December 18, 2009 at St. Stephen Parish,
221 Concord Street, Framingham;
Medugorje visionary Ivan Dragicevic will be speaking.
The program will begin at 6:00 pm with recitation of the Most Holy Rosary. During the recitation, Ivan will receive
the apparition from our Blessed
Mother. The Rosary will be followed
by Mass at 7:00 pm with a testimony
from Arthur Boyle and a talk by Ivan
around 8:30 pm, which will conclude
with Benediction.
This program follows the pattern of St. James
the Apostle Parish in Medugorje.
We expect a lot of people, come early.
The Xaverian Missionaries
began the Advent season and
celebration of Christmas with
the traditional Christmas
Lights display and started Saturday, November 28th and will
run through Sunday, January
3rd. from 5:00 to 9:00 pm.

Flu Season Directives
Directivos da Estação da Gripe
The clergy and faithful are encouraged to observe necessary standard precautions to protect the
health of others during this flu season, and especially
with the risks related to H1N1 influenza. The best way
to prevent the spread of contagious disease is to practice
good hygiene.
In addition to practicing good hygiene, the Cardinal directs the following for the celebration of the Sacred Liturgy and for flu prevention:
The distribution of the Precious Blood for the
faithful is suspended, with the exception of those who
must receive from the cup due to medical reasons. The
faith of the Church teaches that Christ, whole and entire,
is received even under only one species.
The exchange of the Sign of Peace is to be offered without any physical contact. If the priest celebrant chooses to extend the invitation for the sign of
peace, the faithful, instead of a handshake, may bow to
the persons nearby.
Parishioners should be reminded that if they are
ill or suspect they are ill with a contagious illness, they
are not bound by the Sunday Mass obligation.
They should remain at home and return to
Church when they are well.
O clérico e os fiéis são encorajados a observar
necessárias precauções para proteger a saúde dos
outros, durante esta estação da gripe e, especialmente,
com os riscos relacionados com a gripe H1N1. A melhor
maneira de evitar o perigo do ccntágio da doença é
praticar uma boa higiene.
Juntamente com a prática da boa higiene, o
Cardeal recomenda as seguintes medidas na celebração
da Sagrada Liturgia e prevenção da gripe:
A distribuíção do Precioso Sangue de Cristo
para os fiéis foi suspensa, com excepção dos que devem
receber da taça por razões medicas. A fé da Igreja
ensina que Cristo é recebido totalmente mesmo só com
uma das espécies.
A troca do Sinal da Paz deve ser oferecida sem
qualquer contacto físico. Se o padre celebrante escolher
estender o convite para o sinal da paz, os fiéis, em lugar
de apertarem as mãos, devem fazer uma reverência com
a cabeça às pessoas à volta.
Os Paroquianos devem lembrar-se, se estão
doentes ou suspeitam estar com uma doença contagiosa, não devem comparecer à Missa, porque não ficam em obrigação na Missa de Domingo.
Devem permanecer em casa e só voltarem
quando estiverem bons.

Portuguese Choir continues to meet Mondays, from 6:45 pm to 8:00 pm.
Youth Choir continues to meet Wednesdays, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and
Adult Choir continues to meet from 7:15 pm to 8:15 pm. I’m looking forward to meeting
with you and hopeful of acquiring new members.
Chapel Choir will meet Tuesday nights from 7:00 to 8:00 pm in the Lower Church

BAPTISM ROBE MAKING MINISTRY
Each year St. Michael Parish has the privilege of welcoming over 125 children to the Church in the Sacrament of Baptism. As part of the Baptism Ritual a special white garment is placed on the newly Baptized as a symbol of this
child’s new life in Jesus Christ. This symbolic action reminds all present of the newly baptized child’s Christian dignity; he or she has now “put on Christ”.
Presently the parish purchases these garments. We would like to give our newly Baptized a garment that has been
made by parishioners. To do this we are looking for a few non-sewers to assemble kits, we will supply the materials,
and sewers to actually stitch the garment. Only basic sewing skills are needed. If you are interested or would like

Saint Michael School
wishes to thank all who made
our annual Saint Nicholas
Breakfast so successful. Thank
you especially to our Home
and School Association for all their hard work, and all
those who attended for their support. A fun and delicious time was had by all. Our classes also have finished
their Giving Tree Family Project once again this year,
adopting families for each class from the Parish Giving
Tree. On Monday, Mrs. Maureen Crowley-Heil, a native of Saint Michael Parish, who now serves as the
Archdiocesan liaison for the Holy Childhood Association, will be joining the school for our communal Monday morning prayer and Advent wreath lighting in the
school’s gym. On Tuesday, December 15, our Kindergarten One and Two students will be presenting their
annul ABC Christmas Show in the Christ the King
Chapel at 8:30 AM. Later that evening at our Governance Board will be holding an Open Meeting for all
who are interested in the school gym. On Friday, December 18 at 7:00 PM, the school will hold its annual Advent/ Christmas Show in the upper church. We invite all
who are interested to attend. This is our show’s 29th
year, and it always serves as a special way to begin the
advent of the Christmas season. Just a reminder for
those hard to buy for people on your list, our Raffle Calendars are on still sale for $10.00 each. They are available in the school, online or at the Parish Center for anyone interested. Thank you for all your support.

A Escola de S. Miguel deseja agradecer
a todos que tornaram o nosso S. Nicolau, Pequenoalmoço annual, um tal êxito. Obrigado, em especial, à

Todos tiveram um tempo divertido e delicioso.As nossas
classes, também, acabaram este ano o seu projecto da Árvore de Donativos da Família, adoptando formulários
das famílias desta Árvore para cada uma das classes.
Na Segunda-feira, Mrs. Maureen Crowley-Heil, natural
da Paróquia de S. Miguel, que agora serve como ligação
da Arquidiocese com a Associação de Infância, vem à
escola para a nossa oração da manhã e iluminar a coroa
do Advento no ginásio da escola.
Na Terça-feira, 15 de Dezembro, os estudantes dos nossos Kindergarten Um e Dois (pré-primária) apresentarão
a sua anual apresentação ABC Christmas na Capela do
Cristo Rei às 8h30 da manhã. Mais tarde, nessa noite o
nosso Governance Board irá apresentar, no ginásio da
escola, uma reunião pública para quem estiver interessado . Na Sexta-feira, 18 de Dezembro às 7h da noite, a
escola apresentará a sua anual apresentação Advent/
Christmas na igreja de cima. Convidamos à todos que
estiverem interessados a participar. Esta nossa apresentação já tem 29 anos e serve como uma maneira especial de
começar o advento da temporada do Natal. Só um lembrete para aqueles que têm dificuldade em comprar para
as pessoas na sua lista. Os nossos Calendários de Sorteio
estão ainda à venda por $10.00 cada. E, podem ser adquiridos na escola, online ou no Centro Paroquial se alguém estiver interessado. Obrigado por todo o vosso
