INTRO + mauríciotrentin surface release_04.09.2012 Maurício Trentin releases SURFACE, a contemporary line of necklaces made of neoprene The Surface line has five pieces and uses neoprene as its raw material. Maurício Trentin, a designer native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, suggests a different experience with his necklace line made of neoprene. “The idea was to create something not only for people who like jewelry, but also for those who don’t like the cold sensation of wearing metal pieces, their weight and excessive shine,” explains Trentin. “The Surface line is light, comfortable and has an absolutely contemporary aspect since it has no shine; the material is black and totally matte.” Light in weight, some styles blend into the clothing, making a look. There are five styles: royal, caos, solid, crystal, and fake. Distributed by INTRO, the pieces are already for sale to customers and store owners via email at [email protected]. The price per unit for final consumer is U$99.00. The necklaces have elastic properties (they don’t have closures) and are washable. The materials are double-faced; one of the sides has a matte surface and the other a silky finish. “Some are clearly necklaces,” highlights Trentin. “But other styles, like caos and crystal, specially, end up blending with the clothes, making unexpected and contemporary structures, not only because of design characteristics, but because of the depth of the black from the raw material.” The pieces are produced with high quality neoprene, manufactured with high precision cutting processes. Maurício Trentin has been a graphic designer for two decades and a product designer for at least one. Among the pieces and projects he’s created are light fixtures, magazine racks, chairs and other furniture.
