Agora, leia com bastante atenção as propostas de trabalho apresentadas a seguir, pois
elas propõem uma retomada da trajetória de seus estudos semestrais e, assim, possibilitarão que
você recupere sua aprendizagem e, consequentemente, sua média.
É importante ressaltar que você precisará de muito empenho e dedicação na elaboração
destas atividades, mas não estará sozinho nessa jornada porque terá o constante apoio de seu
professor e também do monitor da área.
Não se esqueça de que a meta geral de todos os seus professores neste ano é o
fortalecimento da postura de estudante.

Santa Catarina Festivals
Santa Catarina is a State of Festivities! Most of them are in October when the
Catarinense population breaks into a party mood and celebrates their origins and
traditions in about 10 events, which attract around 1.2 million visitors. The Oktoberfest in
Blumenau is the main October Festivity where there are allegoric parades, beer wagons,
large dancing parties, typical colored costumes and food which brings together about 700
thousand people every year. However, the Catarinense calendar offers options all year
round. There is the Fenaostra (oyster festival), which is organized in Florianópolis and
held in November. Another is the famous Pinhão Festival, in Lages, which warms the
wintry mountain region with thousands of tourists.

The Texas high school student who was arrested because of a clock he made for
school has been invited to the White House by U.S. President Barack Obama. Ahmed
Mohamed, 14, was led away in handcuffs after his school alerted police that he had
brought a homemade bomb to school. He was detained for several hours before
authorities realised that what Ahmed had made was just a clock. Within hours of his
being released, Ahmed's story went viral. The hashtag IStandWithAhmed has been
retweeted hundreds of thousands of times. President Obama tweeted: "Cool clock,
Ahmed. Want to bring it to the White House? We should inspire more kids like you to like
science. It's what makes America great."
Ahmed's arrest has once again put the spotlight in the USA on the issue of
Islamophobia and of how Muslims are perceived and treated. Ahmed said that because
of his religion, other kids at school called him 'bomb maker' and 'terrorist'. He said the

police interrogation made him feel as though he had done something wrong. He said: "I
felt like I was a criminal. I felt like I was a terrorist." To add insult to injury, his school
suspended him for three days. Ahmed has caught the attention of Silicon Valley
heavyweights. Twitter offered him an internship and Google invited him to a science fair
and to their campus. Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg said: "The future belongs to
people like Ahmed."

Mount Rushmore
Mount Rushmore National Memorial Park in Keystone, South Dakota covers an
area of 5 km². The rock formation was a sacred Indian site once and became a
national memorial on March 3, 1925.
