Para esta edição 2008 das “Jornadas Albert Netter”, a Professora Doutora Ana
Teresa Almeida Santos pretendeu mostrar os mais recentes desenvolvimentos no
âmbito da preservação da fertilidade através da reavaliação das suas possibilidades e
dos seus limites - particularmente em pacientes com cancro - e também especificando o interesse crescente, os aspectos metodológicos e as consequências das técnicas
de procriação medicamente assistida.
Temos a ambição de mostrar atitudes coerentes que venham de encontro aos
interesses e expectativas dos casais confrontados com problemas de fertilidade.
A presença de um grande número de especialistas europeus nesta área permitirá a
cada um adoptar uma opinião pessoal baseada em diferentes pontos de vista.
As “Jornadas Albert Netter” são organizadas de dois em dois anos pela Sociedade
Europeia de Ginecologia em homenagem ao seu Presidente Fundador que a criou
em Paris em 1993. Desde então, a SEG organiza também, cada dois anos, um
Congresso Internacional que reúne cerca de mil participantes.
Temos o prazer de anunciar que o IX Congresso da SEG irá decorrer em Roma de
10 a 14 de Setembro de 2009 organizado pelo Professor Andrea Genazzani.
Juntamente com a Professora Doutora Ana Teresa Almeida Santos, com a Presidente
da SEG, Doutora Clara Pélissier-Langbort e com todos os membros de Direcção da
SEG, desejo-lhe umas agradáveis e proveitosas “Jornadas Albert Netter”.
Estamos encantados de vos poder receber sob os céus luminosos do Algarve.

Pour cette édition 2008 des «Journées Albert Netter», son organisatrice, le Docteur
Teresa de Almeida Santos a voulu faire le point sur les avancées récentes en matière
de préservation de la fertilité en réévaluant ses limites et ses perspectives notamment chez les patientes atteintes d'un cancer - et en précisant également
l'intérêt croissant, les biais méthodologiques et les conséquences des procréations
médicalement assistées.
Nous avons l'ambition de dégager des attitudes cohérentes qui rencontrent l'intérêt
et l'attente des couples confrontés à des problèmes de fertilité. La présence d'un
grand nombre d'experts européens essentiels dans ce domaine permettra à chacun
de se forger une opinion personnelle étayée par différents avis.
Annuellement, les «Journées Albert Netter», sont organisées par la Société
Européenne de Gynécologie en l'honneur de son Président Fondateur, qui l'a créée à
Paris en 1993.
Depuis lors, la SEG organise également un congrès international bisannuel qui
réunit un millier de participants. Nous avons le plaisir de vous annoncer que le 9ème
congrès de la SEG se tiendra à Rome des 10 au 14 septembre 2009 sous la direction
du Professeur Andrea Genazzani.
Je me joins au Docteur Teresa Almeida Santos, à la Présidente de la SEG, le Docteur
Clara Pélissier-Langbort et à tous les membres du bureau pour vous souhaiter des
Journées Albert Netter agréables et fructueuses.
Nous sommes tous sincèrement enchantés de vous accueillir sous les cieux cléments
de l'Algarve.

For this edition 2008 of the ”Journées Albert Netter”, Doctor Teresa Almeida Santos
wanted to give a progress report on the recent projections about the preservation of
the fertility by revaluing its limits and its prospects - in particular in the patients with
a cancer - and also by specifying the increasing interest, the methodological aspects
and the consequences of medical assisted procreations.
We have the animation to bring out coherent attitudes which meet the interest and
the expectation of the couples confronted with problems of fertility.
The presence of a great number of essential European experts in this field will make
possible for each one to adopt a personal opinion based on different points of view.
Annually, the “Journées Albert Netter” are organized by the European Society of
Gynecology in honour of its Founder President, who created the ESG in Paris in
1993.
Since then, the ESG also organizes every two years an international congress which
joins together a thousand of participants.
We are pleased to announce to you that the 9th congress of the ESG will be held in
Rome from September 10th to September 14th 2009, under the management of
Professor Andrea Genazzani.
With Doctor Teresa Almeida Santos, with the President of the ESG, Doctor Clara
Pélissier-Langbort and with all the members of the ESG Board, I wish you pleasant
and fruitful “Journées Albert Netter”.

Há 15 anos atrás, em Paris, Albert NETTER reuniu um pequeno grupo de colegas
para compartilhar com eles um sonho que ele tinha construído com FRANCHIMONT e concebido, como sempre, com Alice NETTER.
A Europa dos países e dos políticos, que então começava, também deveria assistir ao
nascimento de uma associação científica. Para se tornar uma união, um continente
multisecular deve contar com os seus cidadãos, mas também com os seus cientistas,
agrupados em torno de projectos comuns de desenvolvimento, dinâmicos, inovadores e criativos.
Desde a primeira reunião no dia 5 de Fevereiro de 1993, em Bordéus, as doze estrelas da Europa ilustradas no emblema da Sociedade Europeia de Ginecologia, que se
tornaram hoje dezassete, simbolizam a cruzada idealizada em torno de uma
concepção inteligente, moderna e perspicaz da actual medicina da reprodução.
Portugal teve sempre um papel activo na promoção do modelo político e social da
Europa. A aprovação recente do Tratado de Lisboa, uma verdadeira Constituição
para a Europa de amanhã, é a prova disso mesmo.
Do mesmo modo, a Sociedade Europeia de Ginecologia reconheceu Portugal como
um país particularmente activo na sua dinâmica científica, bem como no seu acolhimento fraterno. As sinergias culturais entre o país mais ocidental do velho continente e a maioria dos países da Europa fazem parte da nossa história comum.
A realização, no Algarve, do 1º Congresso da Sociedade Europeia de Ginecologia,
em Novembro de 1995, a partir de um projecto científico ambicioso mas constitui
também um acto de coragem ao assumir a concretização de uma ideia estimulante
e motivadora.
Seis outros congressos sucederam periodicamente, de dois em dois anos, em vários
países da Europa, com um impacto cada vez mais alargado. A Europa soube
interiorizar a mensagem dos Mestres fundadores e adoptou a perspectiva filosófica
inicial. Outras sociedades científicas seguiram o mesmo modelo que continuamos a
prosseguir com renovado entusiasmo a cada dia.
Expressão da sua fiel homenagem e da sua gratidão, a Sociedade Europeia de
Ginecologia patrocina anualmente as "Jornadas Albert NETTER " cujo tema é sempre baseado nas aquisições científicas mais recentes.
Nós próprios, já as organizámos, em Coimbra, em Março de 2002, consagradas ao
tema "Genética e Biotecnologia". Como resultado de debates profundos, algumas
ideias, ainda embrionárias, foram transformadas em projectos de industrialização.
Com mérito e sucesso. E com grande júbilo dos promotores.
Estamos novamente convocados para o Algarve, no início do Outono de 2008, para
consolidar a amizade e partilhar o convívio, mas também para aprofundar os conhecimentos sobre um tema que hoje, e no futuro, se revela de um grande interesse.
Nas nossas modernas civilizações a esperança de vida aumenta, a fecundidade
diminui e as perspectivas demográficas são preocupantes. Por isso, é essencial agir
e acreditar que, no futuro, desenvolveremos técnicas eficazes, sem nunca esquecer o
ser humano, sobretudo a mulher, sujeito e alvo das nossas preocupações científicas,
sociais e éticas.

Il y a 15 ans, à Paris, Albert NETTER réunit un petit groupe de ses élèves pour
partager un rêve avec eux. Ce rêve, il l'avait eu avec FRANCHIMONT et conçu,
en dialogue, comme il le faisait toujours, avec Alice NETTER.
L'Europe des pays et des politiciens, qui en était à ses débuts à l'époque, devait
être aussi un rassemblement de scientifiques. Un continent multiséculaire, pour
devenir uni, ne saurait jamais le devenir sans les citoyens et sans la cohésion des
savants autour de projets de développement communs dynamiques et, surtout, innovateurs et créatifs.
Depuis la première réunion du 5 Février 1993, à Bordeaux, les douze étoiles de
l'Europe dessinées sur l'emblème de la Société Européenne de Gynécologie - qui
sont devenues aujourd'hui dix-sept - symbolisent la croisade pour une conception
intelligente, moderne et perspicace de la Médecine de la Reproduction de nos jours.
Le Portugal a toujours joué un rôle prépondérant et actif pour ce qui a trait à la
dynamisation du modèle politique et social européen. L'approbation tout récente du
Traité de Lisbonne, une véritable Constitution pour l'Europe de demain, en est la
preuve.
La Société Européenne de Gynécologie, elle aussi, a reconnu le Portugal comme un
pays particulièrement actif en ce qui concerne sa dynamique scientifique et sa
fraternité chaleureuse. Les synergies culturelles entre le pays le plus occidental du
vieux continent et la majeure partie de l'Europe font part de notre Histoire commune.
La réalisation, en Algarve, du 1er Congrès de la Société Européenne de
Gynécologie, en Novembre 1995, fut l'acte de foi d'un engagement sur un projet
ambitieux mais aussi le témoignage du courage assumé uniquement à partir d'une
idée motivante et stimulante.
Six autres Congrès se succédèrent régulièrement, tous les deux ans, dans divers pays
de l'Europe. Leur retentissement fut de plus en plus vaste. L'Europe sut saisir le
message des Maîtres fondateurs et elle adopta la perspective philosophique qui en
était à l'origine. Depuis, d'autres Sociétés savantes ont adopté le même modèle que
celui que nous poursuivons toujours avec un enthousiasme croissant.
Pour rendre un hommage fidèle et exprimer sa profonde gratitude, chaque année les
rencontres de la Société Européenne de Gynécologie sont placées sous le patronage
des Journées Albert NETTER, toujours centrées sur un thème d'actualité.
Nous mêmes, nous les avons organisées à Coimbra, en Mars 2002. Elles étaient alors
consacrées au thème « Génétique et Biotechnologies ». A la suite de réflexions
approfondies, certaines idées, alors débutantes, se sont transformées en projets
d'industrialisation. Avec mérite et succès, à la grande joie des promoteurs.
Nous sommes de nouveau convoqués au Portugal, en Algarve, au début de l'automne 2008 afin de partager l'amitié et de cimenter la convivialité. Mais aussi pour
approfondir les connaissances sur un sujet très important. D'ors et déjà et surtout
pour l'avenir, l'espoir de vie de la civilisation moderne augmente. La fertilité décline.
Les perspectives démographiques sont inquiétantes. Il faut, donc, faire quelque
chose. Préserver l'espoir en l'avenir. Développer l'efficacité des techniques sans
jamais oublier l'être humain. Et en particulier la FEMME, sujet et raison de nos
préoccupations scientifiques et sociales tout autant qu'éthiques.

Fifteen years ago, in Paris, Albert NETTER gathered a small group of his students
to share with them a dream that he had had with FRANCHIMONT, and that he
had analyzed with Alice NETTER through dialogue, like he always did.
Europe of countries and politicians that was starting at the time should also become
a group of scientists, a multisecular continent that should be united. And it would
never become one without citizens, and without the alliance of experts around
dynamic common development projects, but mainly innovating and creative ones.
After the first meeting in February 5th 1993 in Bordeaux, the twelve stars of
Europe, drawn on top of the European Gynaecology Society - the stars have
become seventeen in the meantime - are the symbol of the crusade that aims at an
intelligent, modern and astute conception of the present Reproductive Medicine.
Portugal has always played a very important, active role regarding the dynamization
of the European political and social model. The rather recent approval of the
Treaty of Lisbon, which is a true Constitution for the Europe of tomorrow, is the
living proof of it.
The European Gynaecology Society has also acknowledged that Portugal is a
particularly active country regarding its scientific dynamism and its warming
affection. The cultural synergies between the most western country of the old
continent and the majority of Europe are a part of our common History.
The 1rst Congress of the European Gynaecology Society that took place in the
Algarve in November 1995 was a promise based on an ambitious project, but it was
also a sign of the courage that was solely based on a motivating, exciting idea.
Six other congresses regularly followed, every two years, in multiple European
countries. With a growing importance, Europe understood the message of the
founding Members, and adopted the philosophical perspective from the very
beginning. Other scientific societies have also adopted the same model that we
pursue, always with the same keen interest and enthusiasm.
In order to pay a loyal tribute and to express its deepest gratitude, each year the
European Society of Gynaecology sponsors the Albert NETTER Seminar, which
always deals with a present topic.
We have organized it in Coimbra, in March 2002, and the subject was « Genetics
and Biotechnologies ». After some deep reflections, some ideas have been
transformed into successful industrialization projects to the joy of the promoters.
Once again, we are going to meet in Portugal, in the Algarve, in the beginning of
Fall 2008, so that we can strengthen our friendship and enjoy moments together, but
also to share and deepen the knowledge regarding a very important subject of today,
but mainly of the future. Life expectancy of modern civilization increases, fertility
declines and demographic perspectives are quite upsetting. Hence, one has to do
something about this, such as preserving hope for the future, developing the
efficiency of technologies without ever forgetting the human being and particularly
WOMEN, the subjects of our scientific, social but also ethic concerns.
