An alternative is the use of image analysis that can be a powerful method for the assessment of corrosion. Images can be obtained from microscopes and digital cameras, but the use of the microscope may have some errors if the corrosion is not uniform, because the image is focused on the points of corrosion and, therefore, can not represent the entire surface. In this work we compared the weight loss with the technique of obtaining corrosion images using a digital camera, where the images were processed in two ways: a) considering all the corroded area; b) considering a specific region of the sample and the microscope images obtained.
