2002, Ph.D. in Social and Political Sciences of the European University Institute (Florence Italy) awarded on 12 July 2002, following public defence of a thesis entitled Corruption:
Assessing Ethical Standards in Political Life through Control Policies. The thesis was written
under the supervision of Prof. Yves Mény and defended before an international Examining Board
composed as follows: Prof. Philippe Schmitter (European University Institute, Chairman), Prof.
Yves Mény (European University Institute, Supervisor), Prof. Donatella della Porta (Università
degli Studi di Firenze), Prof. Manuel Villaverde Cabral (ICS, Univ. of Lisbon);
