FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

QUINTO DOMINGO DA PÁSCOA - 2010
COMUNIDADE CATÓLICA BRASILEIRA
HYANNIS
Our annual Diocesan Catholic Charities Appeal is nearly
halfway through. Each year, our Diocese concentrates the
Month of May and early June to raise the monies
necessary to fund the many apostolic programs that
service the needs of our neighbors. Many such services
are unable to be funded by individual parishes, and the
Diocesan Appeal allows those programs to succeed and to
respond to the needs of our brothers and sisters within our
local community in Southeastern Massachusetts. You
should have received a mailing from the parish by this time;
additional appeal cards are available at the church doors.
On Memorial Day, barring inclement weather, we will
have a special Mass at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery at
10AM to honor all the dead, but especially those who have
been commended to our care at St. Patrick’s Cemetery,
Barnstable Road and St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Pine
Street, Centerville. All are invited to attend and pray for all
who have meant so much to us and for those who have no
one to remember them, that they may share the gift of
eternal life promised to us by our Lord and Savior.
th
On May 17 , Elizabeth Rossi who has assisted our
Parish as an altar server, lector and song leader, will
receive the Pope St. Pius X Award for Youth by Bishop
Coleman at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Each spring, our Diocese
singles out parish youth, who exemplify discipleship of
service to their parish faith community. Congratulations
Elizabeth as you celebrate this honor.
BIBLE STUDY -- BOOK OF EXODUS
As a part of our Parish continuing Adult Faith Formation we
continue to meet to pray, study and discuss the Book of
Exodus. The group will meet at 1PM in the Father Duffy
Center (357 South St.) on the following dates. Monday -May 23, June 6, 13, 20, 27. Coffee, Juice and Tea will be
provided. A suggested Offering of $12 will help to defray
the cost of a study guide and commentary. Call Deacon
Dick Murphy to reserve your place and to make sure
enough study material will be available. 508.776.7325

May 1 – June 23
May 1 marked the beginning of our
Annual Catholic Charities Appeal. Thank
you to all of you who have already sent in
your pledges and contributions. Let us
work together to make our burden lighter
and our joys greater! Thank you for your contributions.
promover armadilhas, cameras, “show de aberrações”,
“propaganda negativa”. É impossível fazer parte do grupo
todas as pessoas necessitadas.

CHRISTIAN INITIATION
Christian Initiation of Adults is a process for those wishing
to become fully initiated Catholics (receiving the
sacraments of Baptism, Communion, and Confirmation) or
being received into the faith from
another Christian denomination
and therefore, receiving the
Sacraments of Eucharist and
Confirmation. We will be holding
interviews for all prospective
candidates during the months of
July and August. Classes begin in
September and will continue until
next Pentecost. This is a time for asking questions and
hopefully putting to rest any myths you may have heard
about why you cannot become a Catholic. No
commitments are made or expected during this time.
Initiation Candidate Application forms is available by either
stopping by or by calling the parish office.
DIOCESE OF FALL RIVER
“LET THE LITTLE CHILDREN COME TO ME….”
We welcome all families with
small children to attend Mass. It
is wonderful to see ‘new life’
adding to our family in the parish.
We do not want you to stay away
if you have little ones. If you feel
it necessary to use the cry
rooms, they are located in the
west wing of the church at St.
Francis. It is a joy to witness
young parents honoring Christ’s
mandate to bring little children to
Him.
ATTENTION: ALTAR SERVERS, LECTORS, EMHC
We are asking that all Altar Servers, Lectors and
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion pick
up an information sheet from the Sacristy, or
download it from the website, complete and
return to the Parish Office as soon as possible.
