“EXCHANGE PROGRAMME”
RESULTADOS DO PROJECTO PILOTO
O “Exchange Programme” (EP) é um Programa promovido pela Federação
Europeia de Medicina Interna (EFIM) que visa o intercâmbio de Internos de
Medicina Interna dentro da Europa, através da realização de um estágio com
duração de 1 mês, num Serviço de Medicina Interna (IM) com idoneidade
formativa. Trata-se de um estágio observacional. Este estágio é creditado pela
EFIM.
O principal objectivo do EP é observar e aprender diferentes sistemas de saúde
europeus, de acordo com os critérios de formação curricular da já referida
especialidade.
O Grupo Central (Working Group - WG) do “Exchange Programme” da EFIM, é
representado por 5 membros:

3. Maria Cappellini, Itália.
4. Frank Bosch, Holanda.
5. Burçin Halaçli, Turquia.
PROJECTO PILOTO
O Projecto Piloto do Programa “Exchange” decorreu desde Março a Outubro de
2012, após envio de candidaturas a todos os Países Membros da EFIM.
Após processo de seleção, os países que integraram o Projecto Piloto foram:
França, Israel, Itália, Letónia, Portugal, Eslováquia, Turquia e Espanha.
Os 3 Centros Portugueses nomeados pela Sociedade Portuguesa de Medicina
Interna (SPMI), sob a anterior Presidência de António Martins Baptista, foram:
- Hospital de Santa Maria, Lisboa;
- Hospitais da Universidade de Coimbra, actual CHUC;
- Hospital Geral de Santo António; Porto.

Em Portugal o Programa “Exchange” teve inicio com a Dra. Joana Ramalho,
interna do 5º ano do Hospital Geral de Santo António, tendo realizado estágio
de 1 mês no Serviço de Medicina Interna de Barcelona, Hospital de Bellvitge.
Os resultados desta experiência foram divulgados e discutidos em Madrid, na
reunião do “Working Group do Exchange”, durante o Congresso da Federação
de Medicina Interna (XXXIII Congress of the Spanish Society of Internal
Medicine-SEMI / 11th Congress of the European Federation of Internal
Medicine-EFIM) que decorreu de 24 a 27 de Outubro de 2012. Após discussão
todos concluíram que a experiência foi muito produtiva e positiva. No futuro o
Grupo pretende a participação de mais países da Europa.
Exemplos dos relatórios enviados à EFIM por parte dos internos que
iniciaram o Projecto Piloto:
“...Despite being a short length stay at Bellvitge hospital I think it was an
enriching experience. The contact with medical fellows serves to share
ambitions, problems and knowledge. Likewise seeing other forms of
hospital organization is good to share perspectives and who knows
improve some of our hospital functioning. In conclusion, this was a
worthy experience, which I will certainly recommend…”

“…Although in general terms the management of most of the pathologies
was very similar, I do found some differences. I am talking about the
cases when a patient is older than the average. In Israel, perhaps due to
religion conditions, the age is almost never a contraindication for
anything, as it is often in Spain. Perhaps, the main inconvenience that I
have suffered was the language barrier. Although most of the hospital
staff is able to speak in English, the mayor part of the work is developed
in Hebrew…I have experienced how good at relationships human beings
are always, whichever the way it is possible!...”

“…I thank the treatment received by all staff of Ospedale
Maggiore, especially Dr. Arienti, Dr. Pretolani and Dr. Aluigi, who made
my stage in Bologna very enjoyable and fruitful, as well by all the nurses
of the Unit and by their coordinator Anna Iannicella. I think it would be
very interesting to maintain future contacts between the Internal Medicine
Units of Vigo (Spain) and Bologna (Italy) in order to plan possible
collaboration in some very hot topics of Internal Medicine such as
bedside ultrasound…”

their kindness and patience with me even when I had some problems
with the French language. To summarize, this stage has been a very
enriching experience in all senses and of course I will hardly recommend
it to other residents…”
