Braghetta re-elected as CBAr president - Law firm features - Latin Lawyer Página 1 de 2 Braghetta re-elected as CBAr president Thursday, 18th August 2011 by Alison Ross The Brazilian Arbitration Committee has re-elected Adriana Braghetta as president for another two years and added new directors, advisory council members and regional coordinators. Braghetta, who practises at LO Baptista Advogados Associados SC in São Paulo, was one of the founders of the committee 10 years ago. Her two co-founders, João Bosco Lee and Eduardo Damião Gonçalves, have already acted as president, each serving two terms. Braghetta says that it has been 'exciting and a real pleasure' to participate in the development of arbitration in Brazil over the last decade. 'The plan for the future is to expand the dialogue to include judges of state courts and to promote academic study of arbitration and arbitration-related projects throughout Brazil so that other states can reach the same level of development as the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Paraná,' she says. The election took place on 11 August, with all CBAr members entitled to vote. Other officers who were re-elected were vice president Eleanora Coelho of Castro e Barros Advogados, treasurer Carlos Forbes of Mundie e Advogados and secretary Luciano Timm of Carvalho, Machado, Timm e Deffenti Advogados. At the same time CBAr voted in two new board members, Flávia Bittar and André Abbud, and three new advisory council members, Carlos Alberto Carmona of Marques Rosado, Toledo Cesar & Carmona Advogados, Adriana Pucci of Lucon Advogados and Nádia de Araújo, a professor of private international law at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. The advisory council meets three or four times a year to consider CBAr's future direction. Abbud, an associate at Barbosa Müssnich & Aragão in São Paulo, will replace Rafael Alves, a former deputy counsel at the ICC Court of Arbitration in Paris. Alves had to step down as director after leaving the ICC to work alongside Braghetta at LO Baptista, but will remain a member of CBAr. A full list of board and advisory council members is published below. Finally, Braghetta says, the board of directors has appointed eight CBAr members to coordinate activities in particular states 'due to the size of Brazil and the need to reach every region".
