Take Back Proposals for Used/Expired Drugs and their Packaging
The Ministry of the Environment has published invitation 02/2013 for manufacturers,
importers, distributors and retailers to present take back proposals for used/expired drugs
and their packaging. Relevant data from the invitation is:

Purpose
Present take back proposal (involving collection, transportation and
final disposal in compliance with environmental rules)
Deadline
February 7, 2014
Goals
The proposed take back system should:
Qualitative targets:
• Encompass 100% of cities with more than 100.000
habitants within 5 years;
• Implement a collection point/bin for every 20.000 habitants in
the cities encompassed by the system within 5 years;
• Provide an environmentally appropriate final destination for
100% of the drugs received from consumers.
Quantitative targets:
• Ensure that 3.79Kg/month and 237,336.00 Kg/year of drugs
are received from consumers.
