So during this week ask the Lord to fill your
hearts and your lives with the fullness of the
Spirit.
My dear parishioners,
This is a special Sunday, and I guess I
can’t let this go without a word about my 50
years as a Redemptorist Missionary priest, and of
course Father Jerry’s 60 years. It is also a very
important Sunday in the liturgical year also as
we are in the middle of the Novena for the Holy
Spirit and Pentecost. So first of all, as we are
celebrating these many years as a priest, both
Father Jerry and I, I felt that it is so important
not just for us, Father Jerry and I, but for all of
us, for you and for me, for our families and for
our parish. Our priesthood of course is not for
either one of us personally but for the church, for
the community and for you. As I have been
here in St. James now for 14 years, and close to
10 years as pastor, and Father Jerry also has been
here for almost nine years. For me it is so
important to celebrate our priesthood with you.
This is a wonderful vocation and it has been an
honor to serve you all these years. So let us
praise God together.
Also as I mentioned we are in the middle
of the Pentecost Novena in preparation for the
Feast of the Holy Spirit. My thoughts are with
all of you as we all need to open our hearts to the
Holy Spirit. As Pope St. John XXIII prayed for
the whole church that there be a new Pentecost
with the opening of the II Vatican Council, this
is my continued prayer for all of us, for you, for
our parish, for our church that in these days we
need to continue to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
And part of this of course means our renewed
commitment to Jesus Christ and to beg, to
implore, to ask for the fullness of the Holy Spirit
in our lives. This is something we must do, ask
for the Spirit. This of course means to pray for
the Holy Spirit: Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts
of the faithful and renew the face of the earth”!
And this coming Friday, we will be
having a special evening of prayer for those
adults in our parish who will be receiving the
Gift of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of
Confirmation. There will be an hour or so of
prayer, and if anyone would want to take part in
this prayer time, please feel free to come. Also
on Saturday night, there will be an all night
Pentecost Vigil. The Parish Charismatic Prayer
Group is organizing the evening of prayer. You
are all most welcome to come and spend
whatever time you wish, be it an hour or the
whole night in prayer.

CALENDÁRIO SEMANAL DA COMUNIDADE
Espírito Santo. Isso é claro significa que todos
de 2014 o nosso compromisso a Jesus
PORTUGUESA E BRASILEIRA2 de Fevereiro
nós renovemos
Cristo e a sua igreja. Precisamos implorar pela
plenitude do Espírito Santo. É algo que todos
nós devemos fazer:
“Vinde Espírito Santo,
enchei os corações dos vossos fiéis, e acenda
neles o vosso divino amor!” Então durante essa
semana peça todos os dias pela vinda do Espírito
Santo em nossos corações e em nossasa vidas.
Essa sexta feira a noite haverá uma vigília às
Meus queridos paroquianos,
8:00pm para os crismandos. Se alquem quiser
também participar,
sintam se livres e
Hoje é um Domingo muito especial e não
convidados.
Também no Sábado a noite o
posso deixar essa oportunidade passar sem falar
grupo
de
oração
Carismático está promovendo
alguma palavra sobre os meus 50 anos como
uma vigília de Pentecostes. Também estejam
Padre Redentorista e é claro também os 60 anos
convidados para vir por uma hora, ou passar a
de Padre Geraldo. Hoje também é um momento
noite toda em oração….

Pentecostes. Mas primeiro, enquanto nós, Padre
Deus lhes abençoe e vinde Espírito Santo!

nossa paróquia, as nossas famílias, os nossos
corações.
