TO FINALIZE THE FILM PRODUCED BY GULLANE
The first edition of Prêmio Finaliza, promoted by Cinema do Brasil, the Brazilian
Audiovisual Association, and Cinecolor Digital during the 7th Latin American Film
Festival of São Paulo, ended last night and awarded 'O lobo atrás da porta' (‘The wolf
behind the door), by Fernando Coimbra, as the winner. The award grants Gullane with
R$ 99,400 (USD 48,000) in services by Cinecolor Digital, including color correction,
sound editing, pre-mixing, final mixing, DCP, and HDcam SR Copy to finalize the film.
‘Life art’, by Andradina Azevedo and Dida Andrade (Filmes da Lata), was awarded with
an special mention.
The jury, comprised of Bruno Bettati, Eva Morsch, Keiko Funato, Rosanna Seregni, and
Silvia Cruz, justified their choices: “‘O lobo atrás da porta’ was awarded by Prêmio
Finaliza for being a mature film that sets the course of a promising career for a
filmmaker now starting in feature films”. The honorable mention to ‘Life Art’ was
granted in order to recognize “a fresh, enthusiastic, and energetic film that approaches
relevant issues in the current scenario of the film industry”.
Other competing projects included ‘Amparo’ (FinoTrato Consumação das Imagens),
‘Cores’ (Kinoosfera Filmes), ‘De menor’ (Tangerina Entretenimento), ‘Mão na luva’
(Movimento Carioca), and ‘O Rio nos pertence - operação Sonia Silk’ (Daza Produção
Cultural). The seven finalist films were shown in private sessions along the festival to
members of the jury and people related to the several areas of the audiovisual production
chain. This award was inspired by the editions of Cine en Construcción, promoted in the
traditional festivals of Toulouse (France) and San Sebastián (Spain).
The 7th Latin American Film Festival of São Paulo was held from July 12th to 19th at
Memorial da América Latina, Cinemateca Brasileira, Cinusp Paulo Emílio, and Cinesesc.
Created in 2006, this event has the main objective to discuss and raise the awareness on
the aesthetic singularity and the production paths of the recent and historic Latin
American cinematography. This edition included the exhibition of approximately 100
films, including recent productions unseen in Brazil, as well as classic works of the local
cinematography.
