foremost international showcases for full-length feature films.
Throughout the course of this event, Cinema do Brasil will be running a stand at the Loews

American Film Market may have the opportunity to see recent productions and also to hold
business meetings with the Brazilian companies present at the event.
The Brazilian contingent will be comprised of Sérgio Sá Leitão (Rio Filme), Marcus Baldini and
Michele Matsumoto (Damasco Filmes), Leda Stopazzolli (Bananeira Filmes), Geórgia Costa
Araújo (Coração da Selva), Márcio de Lemos (Latitude 23 Filmes), Guilherme Keller (Querosene

About Cinema do Brasil©
Created in 2006 in the aim of increasing the participation of Brazilian audiovisual productions
on the international market, Cinema do Brasil® nurtures and provides scenarios for the
prospecting of new markets in which to distribute Brazilian productions, to sell production
services on an international basis and to aggregate value to the image of our national film
industry overseas, thereby generating revenues and jobs in the Brazilian audiovisual industry.
The excellent work done by the producers and agents in Brazil, allied with the efforts of
Cinema do Brasil®, have generated a large volume of international sales and a considerable
increase in the number of co-productions. Since the time it was created up until July 2009, of
the 147 companies that took part in the program, 73 indicated that business between Brazil
and other countries had surpassed the figure of BRL$ 64 million, with the sale of 239
audiovisual products. In these years, Germany, Canada, Spain and France were the countries
with which the flow of trade was most significant.
In 2010, the volume of business carried out amounted to US$ 45.8 million, with the closing of
25 co-production deals, 23 films chosen to participate in major festivals and 540 international
sales made, with special mention to several success stories, such as Lixo Extraordinário, coproduction with O2 Filmes, shown in the United States with International Distribution Support
from Cinema do Brasil®, being indicated for the 2011 Oscar Awards in the category for Best
Documentary; Viajo Porque Preciso, Volto Porque Te Amo, by REC Produtores Associados, Brazil
participated in 31 international festivals and won seven awards; the Rio Film Commission
negotiated BRL$5 M in co-productions to be filmed in Rio de Janeiro, and Coração da Selva,
who carried out a co-production with Spain, negotiated products/services in four events
promoted by Cinema do Brasil® at a total of BRL$10 M. A number of important names from
the film market were also present at events put on by the program over the course of the
2010, such as the director of the Marché du Film de Cannes, Jerôme Paillard; the chairman of
the Locarno International Film Festival, Olivier Père; the director of the Berlinale Co-Production
Market, Sonja Heinen, and the chairman of the Cinecittà Luce, Roberto Cicutto.
The Program was developed by SIAESP – the State of São Paulo’s Audiovisual Industry Guild, in
partnership with APEX Brasil – the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency,
connected to the Brazilian Ministry of Overseas Development, Industry and Commerce and the
Brazilian Ministry of Culture, by way of the Audiovisual Department. The Program also enjoys
the institutional support of the Brazilian National Film Agency (ANCINE) and of the Brazilian
Ministry of Foreign Relations (MRE).
