Clarification about news today released in the Diário Económico
Following the Portuguese Stock Exchange regulator (CMVM) request in accordance with the articles 248.º and
360º, nº. 1 line f) of the Securities Code (CVM), Martifer SGPS, SA aims with this release to clarify news today in
the newspaper Diário Económico with the title “Martifer estuda venda de parque eólicos nos Estados Unidos”.
Martifer SGPS, SA had the opportunity to inform at the Earnings Release of the 2009 First Half Results that after
the decision of reduction of Martifer’s economic interest in Agriculture & Biofuels, the company decided to focus
in its businesses areas of Metallic Construction and Renewable Energy. In the field of development of wind and
solar parks (Electricity Generation), the Company has in operation 104MW in Portugal, Spain, Germany, Poland
and Brazil, of which 97MW wind farms and 7 MW solar parks. Martifer SGPS, SA clarifies that it can adopt in some
of the countries an “Assets Rotation Policy” as a mechanism to finance other projects that eventually might
present better returns to the Company.
Martifer SGPS, SA has in the USA (Texas) 816MW of wind parks under development, of which 174MW are in an
advanced phase of licensing for construction. Concerning the 174MW, the Company has nothing to comment
about its future, and admits that has no defined deals at this moment.
