EUROPEAN TOUR OF SURFING 2013
The Surf Clube de Viana and the Municipality of Viana do Castelo hereby to inform
the first event of the European Tour of Surfing (ETS) will held from 9th to 11th of
August, at Arda Beach, in Viana do Castelo.
As one of the major coastal cities in Portugal, municipal policies encourage
watersports, including SURF, with the aim of making Viana do Castelo one of Europe’s
watersport capitals in the Atlantic Area.
The long history behind the Surf Clube Viana and its experience in successfully
organising such events, the quality and consistency of our waves, the excellent
environmental status of our beaches, the vast array of available accommodation, our
superb local gastronomy and renown “vinho verde” wines, the proximity to Oporto
international airport and excellent accessibilities, will certainly guarantee this to be
one of the best editions of ETS.
The event will be broadcasted through a live-streaming system and an internet
platform will be specifically set up to allow families, friends and sponsors to watch the
sport competitions.
The Portuguese Surfing Federation and the Sports Institute of Portugal nominated
Viana do Castelo as one of the cities to implement a High Performance Centre (HPC)
for Surfing, which will be at the disposal of athletes. The HPC will be the headquarters
of ETS - VIANA 2013.
