(nomes
contáveis):
Os
substantivos contáveis podem ser usados tanto no singular
como no plural. Quando usados no singular podem ser
precedidos de artigo indefinido (a/an); no plural são usados
sem artigo ou com some:

(courage, patiente, love, life, freedom etc.) e os
concretos que dizem respeito a substâncias ou
materiais, quando considerados em seu sentido
geral (water, sugar, money, paper, air, bread etc.)

muito/a
(Substantivo não contável, sempre no singular)
Much é usado em perguntas e negações. Nas
frases afirmativas só é usado na linguagem formal,
sendo, em geral, substituído por a lot of ou lots of .
Usa-se com Uncountable nouns (coisas
incontáveis), Abstract Nouns (coisas abstratas),
Mass

"How many“ é usado para coisas contáveis
(asks for a number), ou como se fosse o
nosso "quantas" e "quantos".
"How much“ é usado para os incontáveis
(asks for an amount), ou como se fosse o
nosso "quanta" e "quanto".

Obs.¹: No caso de "people", é usado o "how many":
"How many people were in the house last week?"
Obs.²: "How much" também significa "quanto

Quando precedidos por SO, AS, TOO ,
much e many são usados em frases
afirmativas.
There was so much traffic that the road got jammed.
(Havia tanto trânsito que a estrada ficou congestionada.)
He has made so many mistakes that I think He's stupid.
(Ele cometeu tantos erros que acho que ele é burro.)
You can have as much ice cream as you like.
(Você pode tomar todo sorvete que quiser.)

do desemprego.)

LITTLE
Pouco/a
Para Uncountable (incontáveis) no singular.
Little é o oposto de much e, como
este é próprio da linguagem formal.
Informalmente é mais comum o uso de not
much. Little pode ser mais comum quando
precedido de very (muito).

Poucos/as
Para countable (contáveis) no plural.
Few é o oposto de many, e próprio da
linguagem formal. Informalmente é mais
comum o uso de not many.
Few people speak a foreign language very well.
(Poucas pessoas falam uma língua estrangeira muito
bem.)

A LITTLE / A FEW
Usa-se respectivamente para singular e
plural com o mesmo sentido de "some"
(algum).

(Dê às rosas um pouco de água todos os dias.)
NÃO "Uma pequena água“
