Off and on I have been running the parish
now for almost 14 years and I thank the Lord for

wonderful people. Once again I am not leaving
the parish community but letting go of the

had been quite difficult for me personally:

I had two operations and for some time I had
been feeling that it was time for me to step down
as pastor. After all, I am now 75 years old and
do not have the energy any more. Also my
doctors have been counseling me to do this for
some time now. It is time for a younger man. So
in May I wrote a letter to my superiors who
accepted my resignation. This will be effective
at the end of July (July 25th). The new pastor
here will be Father Celso. I will continue here in
St. James as his assistant and my title will be
“parochial vicar”. There is so much to do as
always and I can be free to do pastoral work and
not be tied down to the stress of running the
parish.

CALENDÁRIO SEMANAL DA COMUNIDADE

tempo estavam me aconselhando de deixar essa
responsabilidade.
Então em Maio pedi a
demissão desse cargo. No fim do mês Padre
Celso vai assumir essa responsabilidade. Eu vou
continuar aqui na paróquia como assistente. O
título é “vigário paroquial”. Há muito a fazer e

notícia. O Arcebispo Dom John Joseph Myers
nomeou Padre Celso para ser o novo pastor,
(Pároco). Em Maio escrevi para os meus
superiores no Brasil pedindo que eu deixe esse
cargo de superior da minha comunidade

Essas notícias demoraram um pouco
porque o Provincial precisava entrar em contato
com o bispo e sua nomeação de Padre Celso tinha
que ser aprovado pelo bispo.
