Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian Serviço das Comunidades Arménias SHORT TERM GRANTS ARMENIAN STUDIES Post-Graduate Students and recent Ph.Ds ONLY GENERAL REGULATIONS I. II. General information o Aiming to deepen the knowledge in Armenian Studies, the Armenian Communities Department of the CALOUSTE GULBENKIAN FOUNDATION is offering special short term grants up to three months to advance the work of graduate and recent PhDs researchers in the following Armenian studies subjects: Philology, linguistics, literature, history, sociology, anthropology, art history, archaeology, as well as byzantine, caucasian, ottoman, oriental and other studies interrelated with Armenian studies, who wish to attend international seminars, conferences, summer courses and other relevant activities for their research field. o These awards can be used for travel expenses, conference, accommodation and summer courses fees and other expenses incurred relating to the event for which the grant is awarded. o During the same civil year, candidates cannot receive other scholarships form the Foundation. Candidacy 2.1 Eligibility: o Be accredited to a recognized scientific institution from Western Europe. o To hold or working on a Ph.D. degree or post-doctoral program from an institution of higher learning from Western Europe. o The event should take place in an institution of higher learning or any other creditable scientific institution. o Applicants should already have a proficient knowledge of armenian. 2.2. Forms: o Application forms should be filled in and submitted online ONLY 2.3. Dates: Please note application periods: The application delays occur each year in THREE different periods: - NOVEMBER (1-30) for all events that will occur within the period from JANUARY to APRIL ahead. - MARCH (1-31) for all events that will occur within the period from MAY to AUGUST ahead Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian Serviço das Comunidades Arménias - JULY (1-31) for all events that will occur within the period from SEPTEMBER to DECEMBER ahead. III. Evaluation Criteria The selection process takes into account the academic curriculum, interest and quality of the proposed research, the reasons expressed by candidates in the project and letters of reference. This process is done by an independent evaluation committee composed of experts in the field of Armenian studies. IV. Timeframe of the scholarship Scholarships will be awarded for a specific short period of time which can attain up to three months at the maximum. The payment consists of a single non-recurring grant which will be done by bank transfer to the can V. Final information The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation imposes no obligation for the reimbursement of the grant it awards. However, the Foundation appeals to the conscience of each grant holder to revert the assistance he/she may have received to the benefit of his/her scientific community.
