The School’s undergraduate courses in management and also in economics are at the very top of the rank produced every year by the Brazilian Ministry of Education. The MBA and Masters’ courses of IBMEC have an excellent reputation among similar courses in Brazil. 1994 - 1997 Professor of Industrial Engineering at Fluminense Federal University I taught undergraduate and graduate (MBA, MSc and PhD) courses on various subjects related to Industrial Engineering. I also served as advisor to a number of theses, dissertations, and graduation projects. I served as major field advisor and coordinator of the MSc program in industrial engineering. 1976 - 1994 Professor of Industrial Engineering at the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro I started as an associate professor just after returning from my doctoral studies at the University of California at Berkeley. In 1987 I became full professor. My sabbatical year was spent in 1985-1986. I spent the first four months as a visiting professor at the Polytechnic University of New York, where I worked as member of a consulting team and where I was in charge of two graduate courses open to MSc and PhD students; these courses were “engineering economy” and “transportation economics”. I spent the next ten months of my sabbatical year as an Alexander von Humboldt-Krupp research fellow at the University of Stuttgart, in Germany. I taught undergraduate, graduate (MSc), and extension courses on various subjects related to Industrial Engineering. I served as advisor to a number of MSc theses and graduation projects. I also served as chairman of the department and coordinator of the MSc program in industrial engineering. I participated in international, bi-national, and national applied research projects. 1972- 1973 Assistant Professor at the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro I taught undergraduate and graduate (MSc) courses in transportation. Other Relevant Experiences From 1976 to the present I have lectured in graduate (MBA and MSc) courses and have been invited speaker in Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Honduras, Portugal, and Spain.
