Café com Leite (You, Me and Him)

Café com Leite (You, Me and Him) was produced with the sponsorship of Petrobras and Lupo,
shot entirely in the city of São Paulo by a young brazilian crew. It tells a story of a homosexual
couple, Danilo and Marcos, that has to change their plans for the future when the former has to take
care of his younger brother after the death of their parents.
The short film debuted in November 2007 at one of Brazil’s most important film festivals, the
40th Brazilian Film Festival of Brasília, at the 35mm Short Film Competition. It was well
received by public and critics, and was awarded the Canal Brasil Acquisition Award. In January
2008, Café com Leite (You, Me and Him) was screened at two festivals: the 11th Film Festival of
Tiradentes and the 5th Campo Grande Film Festival.
Café com Leite (You, Me and Him) had its international debut at the 58th Berlin
International Film Festival, in the Generation 14plus program, and won the Crystal Bear for
Best Short Film.
In March, it was screened at three important film festivals in Latin America: the 48th
Cartagena International Film and Television Festival (Colombia), where it received a Special
Mention at the Short Film Competition, the 22nd Guadalajara International Film Festival
(Mexico) and the 26th International Film Festival of Uruguay.
In April, it won the Audience Award for Best Short Film at the 23rd Torino GLBT Film
Festival (Italy) and it was screened at the 20th Rencontres Cinémas d'Amérique Latine
(France) and the 15th Granada International Young Filmmakers Festival (Spain).

Synopsis
Short:
When the plans for the future change, new bonds are created between Danilo, Lucas and
Marcos. in between videogames and milk cups, pain and disappointment, they need to learn how to
live together.
Long:
Danilo was about to move out of his parent’s house to go live with his boyfriend, Marcos, when
his mom and dad die unexpectedly in an accident. His plans for the future change and he becomes
responsible for his 10 year-old brother, Lucas. New bonds are created between these 3 young men.
While brothers Danilo and Lucas need to learn everything they didn’t know about each other, Marcos
tries to find out if there is a place for him in his boyfriend’s new family arrangement. In between
videogames and glasses of milk, pain and disappointment, they all need to learn how to live together.

Writer and Director: Daniel Ribeiro
Daniel Ribeiro was born in São Paulo, Brazil on May 20th 1982. He graduated from University of Sao Paulo Film School,
where he directed several videos. Since then, he established himself as a screenwriter, director and editor. Café com Leite
[You, Me and Him] is his first 35mm short-movie.
Executive Producer: Diana Almeida
Diana Almeida was born in Maputo, Mozambique on March 20th 1983. She studied at School of Journalism at the
University of Sao Paulo. During this time she worked as an assistent and a producer in several videos and films at the
Film School. Since then, she established herself as a producer. Her debut as an executive producer was in the 16mm shortfilm called Alguns Recados [Some Notes]. Café com Leite [You, Me and Him] is the first 35mm she produced. In the
moment she has two other 35mm short-movies in post-production.
