RULES I. GENERAL TERMS IV. REGISTRATION 1) The 4th Olhar de Cinema – Curitiba International Film Festival is organized by Grafo Audiovisual Ltda.-ME. The festival will be held between 10th and 18th June, 2015, in Curitiba, Brazil. 1) Registrations must be made by directors, producers or legal representatives of the films at www.olhardecinema. com.br between November 17th, 2014 and March 2nd, 2015. The feature film DVD screeners must arrive at the festival office until March 2nd, 2015. 2) Registrations are open to fiction, documentary, experimental, animated and hybrid films. All films must have been released after January 2014. The film and video formats for exhibition at the Festival are: DCP and FullHD. II. PREMIERE 1) It’s required Brazilian Premiere for international short films. 2) It’s requested and not required Brazilian Premiere for Brazilian short films, Brazilian feature films and International feature films. III. CATEGORIES 1) The Official Selection of the festival is composed of competitive and non-competitive sections, which are divided according to the following categories: • Competitive (Short and Feature) - for films from around the world (including Brazilian films); • New Views - for 1st films (feature) from around the world (including Brazilian films); • Other Views (Short and Feature) - brief panorama of films from around the world (including Brazilian films); • Mirada Paranaense (Parana State Films) - for films made by people who were born in Paraná or live in Paraná for at least 2 years; 2) The festival also has the sections: Special Screenings, Focus, Retrospective, Classics and Olhar Itinerante. 3 2) Short films screeners must be sent through Vimeo (with password) or private link and the password must be the same until May 5th, 2015. 3) Feature films screeners can be sent through Vimeo (with password) or private link and the password must be the same til May 5th, 2015. If you are sending us materials from abroad, please have a declared value of maximum US$ 2,00 and mark the package with the following sentence: “NO COMMERCIAL VALUE – FOR CULTURAL PURPOSES ONLY // SEM VALOR COMERCIAL – SOMENTE PARA FINS CULTURAIS”. 4) It is not allowed to send films by currier services. 5) It is required English or Portuguese subtitles for films not spoken in Portuguese. 6) For submission purposes, screeners may be work-inprogress form. Short Film • Olhar Award - Best Film (financial award in the amount of R$ 4.000,00* | around USD 1.600,00*); 9) There will not be any registration fees. b) Other Prizes V. SELECTION AND TRUSTEES Feature Film • Olhares Brasil Award - Best Brazilian Feature Film of the Competition, Other Views and New Views sections (financial award in the amount of R$ 10,000.00* | around USD 4,000.00*) • New Views Award - Best Film of the section New Views; • Audience Award - Best Film of the Feature Film Competition; 1) The screening copies must arrive at the festival until May 30th, 2015 and remain through at least June 20th, 2015. 2) The festival is responsible for the transportation costs of the selected film copies, excluding any additional costs imposed by customs or other fee in the country of origin of the film. 3) The screening copies will be insured by the organization of the festival from the moment the festival receives them up to the moment the festival returns them through the dispatcher so that they return to the address notified by the directors, producers or legal representatives of the films. The insurance does not cover any wear and tear of the prints itself during the projections. VI. AWARDS Short Film • Olhares Brasil Award - Best Brazilian Short Film of the Competition and Other Views sections (financial award in the amount of R$ 3.000,00* | around USD 1.200,00*); • Audience Award - Best Film of the Short Film Competition; *All financial awards are subject to tax, to be paid in Brazil, according to the Brazilian law. 1) The following prizes will be awarded: The Festival may add other awards due to partnerships. This information will be announced on the official website of the festival. a) Competitive VII. TERMS AND CONDITIONS Feature Film • Olhar Award - Best Film (financial award in the amount of R$ 12.000,00* | around USD 4.500,00*); • Special Jury Prize; • Artistic Contribution Award (The award can be given to an screenwriter, director, actor/actress, , original score 1) The directors, producers, or legal representatives of the selected films on the festival give to the festival, free of charge, the right to display and advertise, in any media, film excerpts (photos and footage up to 2 minutes or 10% of the length of the film) by itself or third parties at any time, without limitation of number of times, without receiving salary or compensation for the participants. 3 Olhar de Cinema – Festival Internacional de Curitiba Rua Doutor Pedrosa, 430 – 3º Andar CEP 80.420-120 | Curitiba – Paraná – Brasil Tel: +55 41 3095-0608 | [email protected] olhardecinema.com.br 2) The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations. 3) The official selection will be announced to the public and press until May 12th, 2015. 4) The person responsible for registration shall indemnify and hold harmless Olhar de Cinema – Curitiba International Film Festival from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney’s fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered. VIII. FINAL CLAUSES 1) The festival is not responsible for returns, losses and other expenses incurred in sending the application materials. 2) Incidents not covered by this regulation will be reviewed by the organizing committee of the festival, and their decision will be autonomous.
