Em 2014, o volume de pescado descarregado nos portos dos
Açores foi de 9.000 Ton., o que correspondeu a um volume de
negócios na ordem dos 27 M€.
A elevada qualidade e diversidade da safra regional e o
posicionamento geográfico do arquipélago, são estímulos à
concretização de investimentos nas seguintes áreas:

TUNA-CANNING INDUSTRY
A indústria de conservas de atum “made in Azores” ocupa uma
posição de destaque nas exportações do arquipélago tendo
ultrapassado os €40M de receitas de exportação nos anos de
2013 e 2014.
The tuna-canning industry made in Azores holds a prominent
position in the archipelago’s exports, having exceeded €40M in
export revenue in 2013 and 2014.
Presentes em cerca de 30 países, tem como principais mercados
de destino a Espanha e Itália.
The products are present in 30 countries, with Spain and Italy being
the industry’s main destination markets.
Atualmente existem quarto indústrias deste setor a operar nos
Açores.

Em 2015, e pelo quarto ano consecutivo, o produto Filete de Atum
com Pimenta dos Açores, produzido pela empresa Santa Catarina
Indústria Conserveira, ganhou o prémio “Melhor dos Melhores” no
4º Concurso Nacional de Conservas de Pescado.
In 2015, and for the fourth consecutive year, the Tuna Fillet with
Azorean Pepper, produced by Santa Catarina Canning Industry,
was awarded with the “Best of the Best” prize in the 4th National
Fish Cannery Contest.
No mesmo concurso, a empresa Santa Catarina também arrecadou
duas medalhas de ouro com o “Filete de Atum em Azeite Biológico”
e com o “Paté de Atum com Orégãos”.
Is this contest, Santa Catarina Canning Industry was also awarded
with two gold medals for the products “Tuna Fillet in Organic Olive
Oil” and “Tuna Pâté with Oregano”.

Prevê-se em 2015 um aumento do número de escalas de navios
de cruzeiros nos Açores de 87 para 137 (+57%). O número de
passageiros deverá chegar aos 116 mil.
The number of cruise-ship stopovers in the Azores is expected to increase
from 87 to 137 in 2015 (+57%). The number of passengers is expected
to reach 116 000.
A náutica de recreio também registou um crescimento no último ano, no
decurso do qual, 3.577 embarcações passaram pelas marinas e portos
de recreio dos Açores, o que corresponde a um movimento de 13.080
tripulantes (+4%).
Recreational boating has also increased in 2014: 3.577 vessels
passed through the marinas and recreational ports of the Azores, which
corresponds to a movement of 13,080 crewmembers (+ 4%).

efetuarem reparações. A construção, reparação e entrega de

Its location in the North Atlantic Ocean, in
a transition area between the rich nutrients
currents from the north and the warm waters
of the Gulf Stream make this archipelago a
true sanctuary for a large and varied number
of species.
The Azorean sea bottom is very rich in
seamounts – undersea mountains that rise
from the seabed without reaching the surface
– that offer a perfect habitat to a dazzling
array of marine life.
There are dozens of spots offering some of
the best underwater experiences worldwide,
from coastal dive to wrecks, caves,
seamounts both in the deep ocean and
down the coast.

A recente exploração científica dos fundos marinhos
demonstrou a existência de recursos metálicos
associados aos campos hidrotermais. Das várias missões
oceanográficas internacionais resultaram a descoberta
de cinco campos hidrotermais ativos (Menez Gwen,
Lucky Strike, Saldanha, Rainbow e Moytirra), localizados
nos mares dos Açores. A exploração de recursos minerais
a 1500 metros de profundidade, que até há pouco
tempo era apenas um cenário de ficção científica,
poderá iniciar-se até à segunda década do século XXI.
Recent scientific seabed exploration has demonstrated the
existence of metal resources associated with hydrothermal
fields. The various oceanographic international missions
have lead to the discovery of five active hydrothermal
fields located in the Azorean seas (Menez Gwen, Lucky
Strike, Saldanha, Rainbow and Moytirra). Considered up
to now as a science fiction scenario, the exploration of
mineral resources at 1500 meters depth may begin until
the second half of the 21st century.

Esta estação é utilizada para monitorizar satélites e lançamentos espaciais.
Os dados recebidos pela Estação permitem a oferta de serviços de valor acrescentado:

medicina, a sua investigação tem assumido um papel relevante.
O projeto i-TERMAL tem como objetivos contribuir para reforçar e
melhorar os recursos termais dos Açores, potenciar novos negócios
no domínio do turismo de saúde e de bem-estar, promover a
valorização dos recursos endógenos da Região com a criação de
produtos e serviços inovadores nos domínios da dermoterapêutica
e dermocosmética, e assegurar a qualificação da oferta termal do
arquipélago.

PIR - Projetos de Interesse Regional / PIR - Projects of Regional Interest
Podem ser reconhecidos como Projetos de Interesse Regional
(PIR), por Resolução do Conselho de Governo, os projetos que,
tenham enquadramento no correspondente sistema de incentivos
da entidade competente em razão da matéria e sendo suscetíveis
de adequada sustentabilidade ambiental e territorial, representem
um investimento global superior a 5M€, na ilha de São Miguel, e
2,5M€ nas restantes ilhas, e apresentem um impacte positivo em
pelo menos cinco dos sete critérios descritos:
1. Produção de bens transacionáveis;
2. Efeito de arrastamento em atividades a montante ou a jusante,
principalmente nas pequenas e médias empresas;
3. Introdução de processos tecnológicos inovadores ou interação com
entidades do sistema científico e tecnológico;
4. Criação mínima de dez postos de trabalho diretos, após o início da
atividade;
5. Enquadramento regional com impacte relevante na dinamização e
promoção das ilhas visando o aproveitamento dos seus recursos e
potencialidades;
6. Balanço económico externo, nomeadamente em termos do impacte
no aumento das exportações ou na redução de importações;

7. Eficiência energética ou utilização de fontes de energia renováveis.
Podem ainda ser reconhecidos como PIR projetos de valor igual ou
inferior aos mínimos referidos acima, dependendo do seu interesse
estratégico para a Região. O promotor deverá requerer junto da
SDEA esse reconhecimento.
Projects that can be recognized as PIRs are the ones that, being
susceptible to adequate environmental and territorial sustainability,
represent an overall investment exceeding €5 million in the case
of São Miguel and €2.5 million in other islands, having a positive
impact on at least five of the following criteria:
1. Production of tradable goods;
2. Spill-over effects in upstream and downstream activities, in
particular for small and medium-sized enterprises;
3. Introduction of innovative technological processes or interaction
with entities of the Regional Scientific and Technological
System;
4. Creation of at least 10 direct jobs;
5. Regional scope with significant impact on the development and
promotion of the Islands, aiming to harness the resources and
potentialities thereof;
6. External economic balance, particularly the positive impact on
increasing exports or in reducing imports;
7. Energy efficiency or renewable energy sources
Projects with figures equal to or below the minimum amounts
mentioned above may yet be recognized as PIRs, depending on the
strategic interest for the Region. Promoters may submit a request for
recognition to the Azores Business Development Society.

ESTAGIAR Program
O ESTAGIAR é um programa que apoia a realização de estágios
nas empresas, numa das seguintes tipologias:
ESTAGIAR is a program that supports the implementation of
traineeships in companies through one of the following types:
ESTAGIAR L – destina-se a jovens licenciados ou com mestrado
que, após a conclusão da respetiva formação, nunca tenham
exercido funções na respetiva área de formação ao abrigo de
contrato de trabalho, com idade não superior a 30 anos à data da
candidatura;
ESTAGIAR L – aimed at young graduates or Master students (no
older than 30 as at the application date) who, upon completion
of their studies, have never worked in their field of studies under a
contract of employment;
ESTAGIAR T – destina-se a jovens titulares de cursos superiores que
não confiram o grau de licenciatura, tecnológicos ou profissionais,
ou cursos que confiram certificado de qualificação profissional
de nível III e equivalência escolar ao 12.º ano que nunca tenham
exercido funções na respetiva área de formação ao abrigo de
contrato de trabalho, com idades compreendidas entre os 17 e os
28 anos, inclusive, à data da candidatura.
ESTAGIAR T – aimed at young higher education graduates

who do not hold a first degree, but have completed a technological

O programa Investir Azores permite aceder a um subsídio no
montante de 50% dos custos salariais mensais a atribuir por cada
posto de trabalho criado, pago até ao máximo de 24 meses, em
projectos que cumpram os seguintes requisitos:
