A locked up house where one can play, windows opened, the stone house, a wedding dress, the plants no-one takes care of for
months, goats, pigs and horses, rainy days and the pool left unused, the husband who went clandestinely to France, the tree-house
to be built, round gates they didn’t let us do, upward mattresses to protect against the dampness, the house build for some 30 years
and the unfinished house, the house of our dreams. It’s summertime, the month of August, in Vascões, North of Portugal. Many of the
houses of emigrants, empty during the rest of the year, are once more inhabited. We visit six of them, guided by the stories of those
who built them.

of time on man and of man on things, their gestures and their memory. David, wood-mask sculptor, and Adélia, ancient songs connoisseur, are the characters of this movie, set in Trás-os-Montes, North-east of Portugal. They testify the neglect condition of this
land, where survive traces of a prehistoric ocean.

We escape from the light which stares at us from the top of these high metallic poles. We stop only when, without any effort, we
can look at the sky to gaze at the mysterious bright dots that contemplate us. With daylight we wake to the life escaping us. In the
village of Drave, the trees took the place of men. Goats guide us through the most bizarre spaces in order to reach the watercourse
that passes by. Moss, insects, small rain, different lights, big rocks, small rocks, trees, bushes and flowers build frames seeking an
approach to Earth. A journey towards the sacred.

In 2008, the growing tourism industry of Cape Verde had frozen.The building of many hotels and resorts by foreigner companies had
to be stopped due to a shortage of sand. The sand industry, primary resource to the production of concrete, had reached a dramatic
level, endangering the beaches. This event caused a huge euphoria between the businessmen of Mauritania. A great number of trucks
started to flow to the Nouakchott port, where many boats sail out to feed the tourist constructions in Cape Verde.
The Cities and the Exchanges starts in Lisbon on a cargo ship. We will undertake an Atlantic route that re-enacts these daily travels,
in order to account the physical and social transformations in the landscape that these exchanges produce.

A dozen years after crossing the Atlantic Ocean towards America, searching for a better life, many Azorean emigrants are deported
to their homeland. In the last years, the number of Portuguese citizens, who have to face this type of situation, is increasing.
The Third Sentence presents a journey, from the dreamt experience of emigration till the long-suffering experience of deportation:
from the Azores’ islands to U.S.A., from the Azorean community of Fall River in Massachusetts to a court room and from Ponta Delgada shelter center in São Miguel island to an uncertain life.

routine made out of silent gestures and small words. João is a meteorological observer. Marta folds leaflets and puts them in envelopes. João measures time, Marta spreads it out. A love story like a cloud, that rises, thickens, shreds and falls, in a continuous way
that is never the same.

A nurse takes care of a patient in her house. Maria do Céu has been a nurse for more than forty years. She was sixteen, when she arrived to Lisbon, coming from a small village in Alentejo. At the Hospital, she reads the file of an old patient who was also her friend.
The file is then closed. Maria do Céu returns to her village, where she sings at the people’s house choir.

Yes, I know that trees do not have eyes, water does not have mouth, and that rocks do not have ears. Even so, we communicate. Especially in this garden, I can ear long mute conversations, like two old friends that, without using words, can talk about calm, comfort,

an education film programme, which focus on film and on moving image
NOMADLAB is an education film programme, which focus on film and on moving image. Its aim is to promote visual culture and to
give away reading tools to people in peripheral social contexts. It’s directed to dislocated, nomad populations to which themes of
mobility and journey assume a form of routine. Migrants, Nomads and Foreigners are invited to take over the knowledge and materials which give them free access to the production of visual languages- in which they always participated as consumers, but have
been always excluded as creators/artists. Through workshops and production courses of small budget documentaries and fiction
films, NOMADLAB aims to facilitate the access to visual and cinematographic language.
NOMADLAB aims to produce an eye on the world throughout social contexts close to the idea of trans-territorial. It proposes as
a work theme the reality of not-belonging to a place. It insists on a discourse of diversity and multiplicity of looks- it resists to the
discourse of integration. The extreme ambition of NOMADLAB resides in that, even with poor work conditions, it achieves the energy
and effervescence of the periphery territories life.

THE MEMORY OF THE ELDERY - A film workshop for the Elderly

The Workshop proposes the creation of a short film that reflects each student’s individual memory.
Each participant is challenged to find out in his or her present life similarities with his or her past life. The main objective is to
develop a narrative regarding remains of events, places, objects and people. Memories which they would like to preserve, as a response against its own oblivion. It is not only a record of memories but also a transformation movement in between what was lived
and what is remembered.
