• Past Perfect Continuous usado para enfatizar a duração ou repetição de
uma ação no passado anterior a outra ação também no passado:
Ex.: “He hadn’t been waiting long when his girlfriend arrived.”
• Estruturas e formas:
- Affirmative Sentence: Sujeito + HAD + BEEN + VERB-ing + Complement
- Negative Sentence: Sujeito + HAD +NOT + BEEN + VERB-ing + Complement
- Interrogative Sentence: HAD + Sujeito + BEEN + VERB-ing + Complement ?

• Preposições usadas com Past Perfect Continuous:
BEFORE, FOR, SINCE and WHEN
Examples:
“They had been living in Seattle for tem years BEFORE they moved to
Newport.”
“Mom had been cleaning the house SINCE morning when she decided
to take a break.”

• ATENÇÃO:
- NUNCA usamos o Past Perfect Continuous com verbos estáticos, ou
seja, verbos que descrevam um estado ou situação, ao invés de uma
ação ou processo.
- VERBOS ESTÁTICOS: KNOW, BELIEVE, HAVE, REMEMBER, LIKE entre
outros.
