RESUMO
A Literatura de Cordel está presente na vida de vários brasileiros, que a apreciam como
leitores, ou a usam como autores para manifestar suas ideias, sonhos, fantasias,
humor e crítica a algo ou alguém da sociedade. Aproximadamente desde o século XVI
ela está presente no Brasil trazida pelos colonizadores que desembarcaram no
Nordeste. Por isso, esta arte é tão enraizada e forte nessa região do país. Levando em
consideração que através dessa literatura popular o povo se expressa com sua
criatividade, a questão motivadora para o desenvolvimento do trabalho foi apresentar
aos leitores que não a conhecem como é riquíssima e divertida a leitura destes
folhetos, desenvolvidos pelo povo não muito conhecedor da linguagem culta, mas que
se expressa bem por meio da experiência que a vida lhes dá no seu dia a dia. Assim,
este trabalho traz como objetivo investigar informações sobre o cordel para análise de
um poema cômico, apresentando a trajetória do cordel, seus temas, características e a
avaliação do humor tão presente nos poemas. Portanto, espera-se que este trabalho
auxilie e desperte o interesse de outros acadêmicos para que esta Literatura seja
expandida, valorizada e trabalhada igualmente as outras.

ABSTRACT
“Cordel” Brazilian folk literature is present in many Brazilians’ life, who enjoy them as
readers, or make use of them as authors to spread their ideas, dreams, fantasies,
humor and critics towards someone or the society. It is approximately present in Brazil
since the 16th century, brought by the colonizers who arrived in the Northeast. That is
one of the reasons why the art is rooted and strong in that region of Brazil. Taking into
consideration that through popular literature people express themselves with their
own creativity, the main issue for the development of this paperwork was to present
the literature to the ones unaware of its existance, how rich and fun reading written by
people who are not masters of the standard Portuguese language, but who get their
ideas across due to the experience of living day by day can be. So, this paperwork
aimed at investigating information on the “cordel” to analysis of a comic poem,
introducing the literature’s history, its themes. Characteristics and an assessment on
the humor present in the poems. Therefore, it is hoped that this paperwork aids and
arousing interest of other academicians to this Literature be expanded, valued and
equally worked with the others.
