PIANCÓ E DAS PIRANHAS, CAPITANIA DA PARAHIBA DO NORTE (SÉCULO XVIII)

RESUMO
Este artigo analisa as redes parentais, sociais e comerciais do sertão da Capitania da Parahiba do Norte
no século XVIII (povoação de Nossa Senhora do Bom Sucesso) objetivando compreender os
mecanismos sociais que regularam essa espacialidade e buscando refletir sobre a relação do “dom” e
do “contra-dom”, estabelecidas na estrutura social da Capitania do Norte do século XVIII. A pesquisa foi
desenvolvida em duas fases: na primeira, buscamos perceber quais documentos possibilitariam ajudar
nos objetivos do trabalho; em seguida, elaboramos tabelas que especificavam os principais sujeitos
envolvidos nas redes de sociabilidade que se formavam no sertão da Capitania da Paraíba do Norte. A
relevância acadêmica desta pesquisa consiste em apresentar como se estruturavam as possíveis
relações de atividades econômicas, sociais, administrativas e familiares que estavam se formando
naquela sociedade, possibilitando assim enriquecer a historiografia sobre a Paraíba colonial, e defender
a importância em se estudar a história local. O trabalho foi desenvolvido por meio de pesquisa
quantitativa e qualitativa, trabalhando com as teorias que embasam os estudos sobre o período colonial
e com os “Livros de Notas” que podem ser encontrados no Cartório de I Ofício “Cel. João Queiroga”,
localizado na atual cidade de Pombal (PB).

BY THE STREAMS OF ALTO SERTÃO: SOCIAL AND COMMERCIAL DYMANICS OF THE
PIANCÓ AND PIRANHAS, PARAHYBA DO NORTE CAPTAINCY (18th Century)
ABSTRACT
This article studies the parental, social and commercials networks in the inland of the Parahyba do Norte
Captaincy in the 18thCentury (hamlet of Nossa Senhora do Bom Sucesso) to understand the social
mechanisms that regulated this area, and seeking to reflect on the relationship of the "dom" and "counterdom", established in the social structure of the North Captaincies of the 18th Century. This research was
developed in two phases: in the first, we seek to realize which documents would help us in the objectives
of the work; then was elaborated tables that specified the main subjects involved in sociability networks
formed in the inland of the Parahyba do Norte Captaincy. The academic relevance of this research
consists to present how was made the structure of economic relations, social, administrative and family
activities in that society, enabling to enrich the historiography about the colonial Parahyba, and advocate
to the importance of local history studies. The work was carried out by quantitative and qualitative
researches, with theories that are based in the studies about the colonial period, and with the "Livro de
Notas" that can be found in the first Office Registry "Cel. João Queiroga ", located in the present town of
Pombal (PB).
