Montebelo Aguieira is a 5-star tourist resort that introduces a new kind of tourism, leisure and accommodation concept
to enjoy high-quality wines, especially Casa da Índia, produced by
Visabeira Turismo.
Montebelo Aguieira Lake Resort & Spa is an area to all kinds of guests
from families on holidays to couples looking for a romantic getaway. “We
also have rooms for business events with all facilities necessary to welcome meetings, press conferences, etc.”, he explained.
The extended range of services has called the attention of some national sports teams that look for training facilities. The conditions of Aguieira
Lake Resort include a marina with capacity to 400 vessels, a lagoon for
water sports, gym, maintenance and horse riding circuits. The French and
Norwegian national canoeing teams, for example, chose this hotel to
intensively prepare for the next canoeing European championship.
“Professional athletes stay here to benefit from the calm waters of
Aguieira and all above mentioned conditions of the resort. All indications
show the resort will become a large international training centre for
canoeing, and also for other water sports”, disclosed Machado Matos. In
the next few days, and given this window of opportunity, the Olympic
Portuguese canoeing team will also perform its preseason training period at Montebelo Aguieira. Furthermore, a national and international
market is emerging of canoeing fans that look for new places to practice this sport.

The site of Aguieira Lake Resort, located in the banks of Aguieira Dam,
allows access to several recreational and leisure activities that have
been the main calling card for all guests that enjoy a true contact with
nature. With family or friends, there are many activities available: catamaran tours for 15 passengers with a light snack served on board while
touring Mondego, Dão and Criz river areas; water sports, panoramic

he 4-star unit Herdade da Cortesia Hotel located
in Avis, just a 2-hour ride from Lisbon, is only one
year old. The project was born at the hands of two
Portuguese sailors who in 1997 planted the roots.
The first conversations and contacts with international Olympic paddling teams concerning the construction of a high-quality hotel with the perfect
conditions to practice sports led some promoters of the project to the
early building of the company Avizaqcua Team Center. Although they
knew the hotel infrastructures still hadn’t been created, there was a
sudden interest on part of some Olympic teams to try the facilities at
Vila de Avis and Maranhão Dam as a practice centre.
The Herdade da Cortesia Hotel has 30 rooms. The ground floor comprises all guest rooms over three different areas and the first floor
includes the bar, the restaurant and the kitchen of the hotel. Facilities
include an outdoor 25m length swimming pool.

The resort is different because of its innovative architecture, fully
incorporated in the surrounding environment, and also because of the
high-quality of the energy efficiency, acoustic characteristics and
renewable energies using the most recent technologies. “Our hotel
invests in the timeless concept. Guests determine the way the hotel
works. We never say no. Everything is carried out according to the
guests and what they are looking for. The most difficult requests are

Luis Ahrens.
Sports national teams and individual athletes see this project as the
perfect place to practice paddling, canoeing, cycling, triathlon and
horse riding. “The natural conditions and features of the hotel are the
ingredients that guarantee the sustainability of the demand of our target market” he stated.
As for meeting tourism also known as corporate tourism besides the
conditions the hotel provides to host meetings and training activities,
there’s also the gastronomic heritage the Alentejo region has to offer.
As for leisure tourism, reality includes the offer of great tranquillity
moments, wellness and comfort that this unique facility can provide.
Also, the region of Alto Alentejo is included in the traditional touristic
tours.
The best national paddling teams in the world such as Great Britain,
the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and Sweden have performed training periods in the hotel. Last February, for example, 12 athletes were
lodged at the hotel during the same period, all with Olympic medals for
their victories, five of which gold.
Boat rides, boat dinners, donkey rides, horse riding classes, horse riding and chart riding, balloon tours are just a few examples of the possible activities available for those staying at the hotel. Portugal Travel News
