The device BC K500 has been specifically designed to be maintenance-free. Please remove
possible dust which may get accumulated on the cover of the device using a delicate detergent
to avoid damaging the stickers. In case any item of the kit does not work correctly, please
contact either your local dealer asking for item repairing / substitution or the original
equipment manufacturer.

Thank you for buying BC K500 6/12V, the new highly professional and fully automatic
Battery Charger and Maintainer.
The device BC K500 is internally controlled by a dedicated electronic circuit which is in
charge of monitoring in real time the current status of your Battery and executing autonomously
the following Charge / Maintenance cycle.
- Bulk Charge Cycle: it provides about 90-95% of the overall charge of the Battery by
implementing a novel charging algorithm based on charging intervals at constant current
repeated on a periodic basis. The effectiveness of this novel charging method has been
proven by the most recent scientific literature.
- Maintenance Cycle: it provides the remaining 5-10% of the overall charge of the Battery
and, at the same time, it keeps your Battery in the best charge conditions for very long
periods (months) during which your vehicle is left unused, without any possible drawback
(Battery overcharge, Battery overheating, electrolyte loss, etc).
BC K500 features:
- Automatic recognition of the Battery (6/12V);
- Green LED: it's on when the device is connected to 220V input power outlet;

This device is intended to be used according to the working conditions it has been designed
for. Any other kind of use is to be considered either dangerous or improper. The original
equipment manufacturer is completely exonerated from whatever responsibility for possible
damages due to either wrong or improper use of the device.
It is important to remember that whenever using the device, the following basic usage
principles have to be considered:
- Do not touch the device with wet hands (or wet feet).
- Do not touch the device barefoot.
- Do not expose the device to the atmospheric agents (i.e. rain, water, saltiness, etc).
Before executing any cleaning/maintenance operation on the device, please check the device
is not connected to the power outlet. In case the device does not work properly, do not

Congratulations for buying BC K500 belonging to the BC Battery Controller family, designed
and manufactured in accordance with the norms and regulations in force in the European
Community as well as able to provide the following set of active guard mechanisms:
1. Protection from wrong connection to the Battery (inversion of Battery polarity).
2. Protection from output lines short circuit.
3. Over-temperature protection; the current supplied to the Battery gets limited in case of
excessive device overheating.
In order to prevent any potential accident, please respect the following guidelines for proper
handling of the Batteries:
1. Always wear protective goggles when operating in proximity of the Battery.
2. Do not try to connect the device to a frozen Battery.
3. During the Maintenance Cycle, avoid generating flames or sparks in proximity of the
Battery since it might produce explosive gases.
4. Do not put the device on top of the Battery during its charge.
5. Batteries contain a corrosive electrolyte. In case the Battery corrosive electrolyte gets
in touch either with your skin or with your eyes, rinse them immediately and abundantly
with fresh water and ask for a doctor.

Procedimento de Instalação do Cabo STD2V
Os operações seguintes são necessários para uma instalação correta do cabo STD2V. Por
favor note que a configuração indicada (cabo STD2V sempre a bordo e conectado aos pólos
da bateria) lhe permite executar este procedimento só uma vez.
O usuário é pedido executar a instalação com o máximo cuidado (veja os parágrafos
Advertência e Segurança).
Se necessário, confie a execução da instalação a pessoal qualificado:
- Preliminarmente, por favor verifique que o dispositivo não é conectado à rede elétrica.
- Conecte o cabo STD2V à bateria: o arame preto será conectado ao pólo negativo da bateria,
o arame vermelho será conectado ao pólo positivo da bateria.
Procedimento de Instalação do BC K500
- Conecte o dispositivo (parado) à rede elétrica 220V. O LED Verde se iluminará.
Contents of the Kit
1. BC K500 device, featuring an embedded 230V power inlet as well as the Battery output
cable (C1), which consists of two high insulation grade red and black wires terminated with
a two poles female connector. C1 cord length = 2 m ±5%;
2. STD2V Connector Cable with Eyelets (C2) to be connected to the Battery + saver cap.
According to the selected kit, a Battery Connector Cable with Clamps and/or a Battery
Connector Cable for Cigar Socket may be included;
3. Copy of this manual.
Accessories
The default harness can be varied with a full set of Accessories able to allow an easy and
quick connection of the Charger to the Battery. For any further information about this topic,

dealer.
C2 Cord installation procedure
The following operations are necessary for a correct set-up of the device. Please note the
recommended cables configuration (C2 cable always present on board and connected to the
Battery terminals) allows you to perform this procedure just once. The user is kindly
requested to execute the installation with maximum care (see Directions and Safety sections).
If necessary, please entrust qualified personnel with the execution of the steps reported here
below:
- Preliminarily, please check the device is not connected to the power outlet.
- Connect C2 cable to the Battery: the black wire shall be connected to the (-) negative
Battery terminal, the red wire shall be connected to the (+) positive Battery terminal.
BC K500 installation procedure
- Remove the connector saver cap from C2 cable and connect C2 to C1.
- Check that the BC K500 Green and Yellow LED diodes are off.
- Connect the device to the 220V power outlet. The Green LED diode (POWER) will turn
on (fixed light) and it will be on as long as the device is connected to 220V.
- Remova a tampa protetora do cabo STD2V e conecte BC K500 (C1) ao cabo STD2V.

atmosféricos.
Função de carregador de bateria
No caso de operação normal, o dispositivo indica a fase de carregamento da seguinte forma:
- LED Amarelo emite una piscadela: fase de carga - a bateria ainda não atingiu o nível ideal
de voltagem / carga;
- LED Amarelo iluminado: fase de manutenção - a batteria atingiu o nível ideal de voltagem.
Se a voltagem da bateria excede um certo limite, o dispositivo pode interromper o
fornecimento de energia (LED Amarelo parado). No caso de um declínio subseqüente
na tensão da bateria, BC K500 retoma automaticamente a execução da fase de manutenção.
As possíveis anomalias são indicadas pelo dispositivo como segue:
- LED Amarelo e Verde parados: BC K500 não é conectado à rede elétrica 220V;
- LED Verde iluminado e LED Amarelo parado: inversão de polaridade, curto-circuito ou
bateria não conectada.
Tipos de baterias
O carregador BC K500 è projetado especificamente para todas as baterias 6/12V de chumboácido (tradicional, de tipo Gel, MF, AGM, VRLA...).
O dispositivo è adequado para a Manutenção das baterias até 60 Ah.
BC K500 disconnection procedure
- Disconnect the device from the 220V power outlet.
- Disconnect C1 cable from C2 cable.
- Restore the connector saver cap on C2 connector.
- Put C2 cable back in its hiding place.
- Put the device back in its box to minimise its exposure to atmospheric agents.
Working Mode
In case of regular functioning:
- Green LED On: the device is connected to 220V Input Power Outlet;
- Yellow LED On and Blinking: the device is Charging the Battery;
- Yellow LED On and Fix: the device is Maintaining the Battery.
When the Battery is fully charged, if the Battery voltage overcomes a certain level the
Battery Charger may stop providing current and the Yellow LED may turn off. BC
K500 will reactivate automatically as soon as the Battery voltage drops down.
The device notifies whatever occurring problem as follows:
- Green LED Off and Yellow LED Off: BC K500 not connected to 220V;
- Green LED On and Yellow LED Off: Battery not connected, Polarity Inverted or Short
Circuit.
Types of Batteries
BC K500 is specifically designed for the maintenance of all the 6/12Vdc Lead-Acid Batteries
currently available on the market (wet, MF, VRLA, AGM, GEL...). BC K500 is able to
handle Batteries up to 60Ah for the Maintenance Cycle.
