___________________________________________Summary___________160 Poubel, Denise. The comparative study of facial type determination by facial and cephalometric analysis in subjects with normal occlusion. Summary The purpose of this research was to evaluate the agreement of facial type determination (brachy, meso and dolicho) among three cephalometric analyses: RICKETTS (VERT Index), SIRIWAT; JARABAK and JANSON; WOODSIDE; METAXAS, and two profile facial analyses: LEGAN; BURSTONE and Subjective Analysis. The sample was compounded by 60 subjects, being 24 males and 36 females. All of them were Brazilians, leukoderms with natural normal occlusion, presenting four out of the six keys to ANDREWS’s occlusion. As an exclusion criterion, a functional and dynamic evaluation of the occlusion was also performed. The natural head position (N.H.P.) and the true vertical (T.V.) were used at the moment of the lateral cephalograms and the profile photographs taken. These made up the methodology for the study, an indispensable requirement for the comparison effect. After statistical analyses (Kappa), the results revealed that, among the cephalometric analyses, there was a weak agreement between the RICKETTS (VERT Index) and SIRIWAT; JARABAK analyses. Among the profile analyses there was no agreement; and when we compare d the cephalometric analys es and the profile analyses, we verified that there was a weak agreement between the JANSON; WOODSIDE; METAXAS and LEGAN; BURSTONE analysis, and between RICKETTS (VERT Index) and the Profile Subjective Analyses.
