Um novo começo

Situada perto de Tavira, no coração da zona rural do
sotavento Algarvio, encontramos este lugar de dez hectares a funcionar desde Setembro de 2012. Em tempos
foi uma antiga casa de família, uma casa de campo portuguesa, terra de agricultura com pomares e produção
própria, terra de ofícios agrários transformada em turismo de campo.
Há nove anos, os simpáticos Hallie e Tim Robinson,
saturados das suas vidas agitadas e empurrados por um
imprevisto pessoal, deixaram para trás uma vida confortável e exigente a nível profissional. Decidiram mudar-se de malas e bagagens para o Algarve com a ideia de
mudar o estilo de vida e realizarem um sonho há muito
desejado. Dedicaram-se ao desenvolvimento da Fazenda Nova, dando continuidade à produção e ao cultivo
que aqui outrora eram realizados.
A combinação da arquitectura original com uma restruturação moderna resultaram num estilo eclético,
tendo os proprietários tido a preocupação e o cuidado
em manter a traça e as fachadas originais. Aqui avistam-se as tradicionais chaminés algarvias e a sanca ornamentada em torno do edifício principal. >
Located close to Tavira, at the heart of the rural area of
the Algarve’s leeward side, we find this ten-acre establishment that has been open since 2012. In the past, it
was an old family home, a Portuguese country house,
surrounded by farmland with orchards and its own
crop production, a land of farm crafts now transformed
into country tourism.
Nine years ago, the very agreeable Hallie and Tim
Robinson, were tired of their stressful lives and were
then impelled by an unexpected change in personal circumstances, left behind their comfortable lives
and demanding professions. They decided to pack up
everything and go to the Algarve with the idea of changing their lifestyle and fulfilling an old dream of theirs.
They dedicated themselves to the development of Fazenda Nova, breathing new life into the production and
farming practices of the past.
The combination of the original architecture with a
modern refurbishment has given rise to an eclectic style
while the new owners have simultaneously been careful
to maintain the original outlines and façades. Here we
can see the traditional chimneys of the Algarve and the
ornamental coving of the main building. >

Os interiores realizados pelos próprios foi um processo contínuo, influenciado pelas inúmeras viagens, memórias de
outros tempos, objectos de outros lugares, sem deixar para
trás a história da propriedade e o património português.
Com dez quartos, este é um espaço confortável e genuíno onde apetece ficar.
Amendoeiras, alfarrobeiras e oliveiras fazem parte deste
lugar, com uma envolvente cuidadosamente trabalhada, simples e romântica. O jardim envolve toda a casa,
e uma série de caminhos que nos levam a desvendar o
seu encanto. Existem recantos escondidos que nos convidam a ler um livro, olhar a paisagem ou simplesmente
a relaxar. Um turismo de campo com sustentabilidade própria onde produzem azeite e outros ingredientes,
utilizados para a confecção da deliciosa gastronomia do
próprio restaurante. Este é um espaço onde os cheiros,
os sabores, as formas e os sorrisos nos levam a sonhar
com uma vida renovada. ::
The interiors which they themselves refurbished were
an ongoing affair, influenced by countless trips, memories from other times, objects from other places, without neglecting or erasing the history of property and its
Portuguese heritage.
With its ten rooms, this is a comfortable and genuine
space, where one wants to stay longer.
Almond, carob and olive trees flourish in this place,
with surroundings that are meticulously maintained
in simple and romantic way. The garden embraces the
whole house, and a series of paths invite us to discover
its delights. There are hidden nooks and corners which
invite us to read a book, contemplate the landscape or
to simply unwind.
This country hotel is self-sustaining, producing its own
olive oil and other ingredients which are then used in
the preparation of the delicious dishes of the establishment’s own restaurant.
This is a place where the smells, flavours, shapes and
smiles inspire us to dream of a renewed way of life. ::
