Brazil’s Siqueira Castro Advogados has begun providing pro bono services to autism charity
Mundo Azul and local community organisation Famílias Novas.
Mundo Azul is run by the parents of a group of autistic children and promotes projects and
events that raise awareness about the condition. Famílias Novas, which was established in
2006, organises events aimed at strengthening local community ties. Both are based in São
Paulo and began working with the firm last month.
The pair is looking to expand their outreach and are relying on Siqueira Castro for all associated
legal work. “One of them already asked for help on fiscal and contracts evaluation, while the
other one has asked us questions concerning their trademark, a labour lawsuit and contractual
issues,” says partner Gustavo Gonçalves Gomes, who heads Siqueira Castro’s pro bono
efforts.
Siqueira Castro was nominated as a Leading light by Latin Lawyer and the Cyrus V Vance
Center for International Justice last year in recognition of the work it has done to provide free
legal services to those in need, the firm recently added children’s cancer support charity
Associação Colorindo a Vida, youth education support organisation Centro de Assistência e
Motivação das Pessoas and sustainable development NGO CARE Brasil to the roster of
organisations it supports.
