I. Jardim do Passeio Alegre: Construído em finais do século XIX, este
Jardim alberga uma série de elementos arquitectónicos de entre os
quais se destacam dois obeliscos de Nicolau Nasoni. ¶ Passeio Alegre
Garden: Built in the late nineteenth century, this garden is home to a
series of architectural elements among which stands two obelisks by
Nicolau Nasoni.
II. Farol - Capela de S. Miguel - o - Anjo: Este farol foi mandado edificar
em 1527 sendo por isso um dos faróis mais antigos da Europa. ¶
Lighthouse – Chapel of S. Miguel - o - Anjo: This lighthouse was built in
1527 being as such one of the oldest lighthouses in Europe.
III. S. Pedro da Afurada: Freguesia de Vila Nova de Gaia muito ligada à
tradição piscatória. É possível fazer a travessia do rio Douro entre o Cais
do Ouro (paragem Gás) e o Cais da Afurada. ¶ Parish of Vila Nova de Gaia
closely linked to fishing traditions. It is possible to cross the river Douro by
boat between the pier of Ouro (Gas Tram Stop) and the pier of Afurada.
IV. Ponte da Arrábida: Projectada pelo Eng.º Edgar Cardoso a Ponte
da Arrábida foi inaugurada a 22 de Junho de 1963. ¶ Arrábida Bridge:
Designed by the engineer Edgar Cardoso the Arrábida Bridge was
inaugurated on the 22nd of June 1963.
Porto was designed by the French engineer Jean Colson. Its construction
was initiated in 1859 and the building was inaugurated in 1869. Today, the
building houses the Museum of Transports and Communications and a
Congress Centre.
V. Museu do Carro Eléctrico: Inaugurado em 1992, o Museu do
Carro Eléctrico encontra-se instalado no edifício da antiga Central
Termoeléctrica de Massarelos onde se produzia e transformava a
energia necessária à rede de carros eléctricos da cidade. ¶ Tramcar
Museum: Inaugurated in 1992, the Tramcar Museu is installed in the
building of the former Thermoelectric Plant of Massarelos which produced
and transformed the energy required by the city’s tramcar network.
VII. Igreja Monumento de S. Francisco de Assis: A Igreja de S. Francisco
é a única dependência que subsiste do antigo convento desta ordem
mendicante. O edifício data do século XIV, tendo as suas obras sido
concluídas no ano de 1425. ¶ Francisco of Assis Monument Church:
The church of S. Francisco is the only dependency that remains of the
former monastery of this mendicant order. The building dates from the
fourteenth century having been completed in the year of 1425.
VI. Alfândega Nova do Porto: O edifício da Alfândega Nova do Porto
foi desenhado pelo engenheiro francês Jean Colson. A sua construção
foi iniciada em 1859 tendo o edifício sido inaugurado em 1869. Alberga
hoje o Museu dos Transportes e Comunicações e um Centro de
Congressos. ¶ New Custom House of Porto: The new custom house of
VIII. Igreja dos Carmelitas: A Igreja dos Carmelitas começou a ser
construída em 1619 e ficou concluída em 1628. Esta igreja fazia parte
de um convento que já não existe. Ao seu lado encontra-se a Igreja
do Carmo construída entre 1756 e 1768. ¶ Carmelitas Church: The
Carmelitas Church was built between 1619 and 1628. This church was part
of a monastery that no longer exists. The Carmelitas Church is situated
next to Carmo Church built between 1756 and 1768.
IX. Torre dos Clérigos: Obra barroca da autoria de Nicolau Nasoni
construída entre 1754 e 1763. A Torre dos Clérigos é um dos
monumentos mais emblemáticos do Porto. ¶ Clérigos Tower: Baroque
work by Nicolau Nasoni built between 1754 e 1763. The Clérigos Tower is
one of the most emblematic monuments of Porto.
X. Teatro Nacional de S. João: O edifício actual do Teatro Nacional de S.
João foi desenhado pelo Arquitecto Marques da Silva e inaugurado em
1920 após um violento incêndio, em 1908, ter destruído por completo o
edifício original. ¶ National Theatre of S. João: The actual building of the
National Theatre of S. João was designed by the architect Marques da
Silva and opened in 1920 after a devastating fire, in 1908, that destroyed
the original premises.
