SECOND PHASE: Considering that a number of authors are still improving theirs abstracts and papers to be delivered at the EGGPEL Congress, the Coordination Committee has decided to extend the deadline to receive those documents, as follows: 15th December 2011 (for abstracts) and 29th February 2012 (for papers). Additionally, some adjustments have been made to the Guidelines, trying to expedite the International Scientific Commission response concerning the acceptance of texts to the Congress, and also regarding a further reduction in participation costs for the authors of accepted communications. The following text already includes these changes. The first edition of the Congress on the Estates-General of Management in Latin Speaking Countries (EGMLSC) will take place in Lisbon, on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th March, 2012. 1. What is the Congress (EGMLSC)? EGMLSC is a congress that intends to gather the largest possible number of entities and opinion streams with substantive relevance in the field of organizations’ management, not only in Portugal and Portuguese speaking countries but also in those countries of Latin expression in Europe, Africa, America and Asia. The overall objective of each edition of the Estates-General of Management in Latin Speaking Countries (EGMLSC) is to evaluate the progress that has been achieved through the ideas and management practices, both within universities and investigation centres, and in companies, associations, NGO’s and public institutions. It is desired, namely, to establish a forum for debate and show-casing and exchange of ideas regarding innovative experiences in management arising in the Latin speaking countries, with an emphasis in their common cultural and institutional Latin roots. Every contribution from science and management experiences for social and economic development are in the scope of the EGMLSC. However, it is important to underline 3 criteria, which can be useful in the definition of priority contents in those debates: (a) themes related to the influence of Latin cultural roots in organizations’ management practices, at a private, public and associative level, will receive high priority. (b) the contribution of a new generation of entrepreneurs in the field of fight against poverty because of the urgency for human development in the countries involved, will always be a strong theme in the EGMLSC congress; Estados Gerais da Gestão nos Países de Expressão Latina “Campus” Universitas Alameda das Linhas de Torres, nº 179 1750-142 Lisboa Portugal Tel. +351 217 573 956 Fax: +351 217 573 945 E-mail: [email protected] www.eggpel.org (c) finally, international cooperation policies at the R&DT level, as well as training policies in the fields of Management and Entrepreneurship will also be a priority, especially if those policies aim to strengthen the role of the Latin space as a common platform between Europe, Africa and the Americas. 2.
