EUROPEAN COMMISSION JOINT RESEARCH CENTRE Resources Recruitment and Training Project sheet reference number 2015-GEE-D-000-6253 Research Project "Organic fertilisers and soil improvers – mixing components" Position for: Short description of activity: Trainee (Type II) The Standards for Food Bioscience Unit of the Institute for Reference Materials and Measurement Joint Research Centre in Geel, Belgium, is offering a position for a trainee in the feed traceability group. Organic fertilisers and soil improvers (OF/SI) are materials of animal origin used to improve plant nutrition and physical and chemical properties of soils. In order to exclude the use of OF/SI for feeding of farmed animals, Regulation (EC) No 1069/2009 includes the obligation to mix OF/SI with a component which renders OF/SI unpalatable to farmed animals. The aim of the project is to review the scientific literature with the aim of identifying potential mixing components which would exclude the unauthorised use OF/SI for feeding ruminants while maintaining their agronomic and fertilising characteristics.
