Cheletomimus (H.) wellsi (Baker) and Cheletomimus (H.) duosetosus Muma are also reported. Downloaded by [University Library Utrecht] at 04:58 04 June 2013 Keywords: Fragaria X ananassa; greenhouse; predatory mite; Rio Grande do Sul; strawberry Most representatives of the family Cheyletidae (Acari: Prostigmata) are predators (Walter et al., 2009). They are free-living, slow-moving and orange-coloured mites (Gerson et al., 2003). So far, only two predators of the genus Cheletomimus were nominally reported from Brazil. There are a number of other reports of Cheletomimus sp. from Brazil (Castro and Vieira, 2011; Mineiro et al., 2006): Cheletomimus (Hemicheyletia) wellsi (Baker) on Actinostemon communis (Müll. Arg.); Acalypha diversifolia Jacq., Alchornea glandulosa Poepp. & Endl and Cheletomimus duosetosus Muma, on rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis Muell. Arg.) (Buosi et al., 2006; Demite and Feres, 2007; Feres, 2000; Feres et al., 2002, 2007; Hernandes and Feres, 2006). In this note, we report C. (H.) gracilis from Brazil for the first time (Figure 1). Measurements of the specimens collected are close to those of original description. Material examined Six females in a greenhouse plantation of strawberry (Fragaria X ananassa Duchesne), Lajeado city, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil (Coll. G.L. Silva). Figure 1.
