• Convergence zones represent important
mechanisms modulating precipitation variability
over South America.
• ITCZ: planetary scale, strongly modulated by SST:
– Prediction of SSTA over the tropical (South) Atlantic.
• SACZ: Regional scale, coupled phenomena:
– 1-Tear approach is a need.
