Bioinformatics of microbial
genomes and mobile
elements:
New perspectives and
applications
In the last decades, sequencing of microbial genomes has
generated a huge amount of information stored in public
databases. As a consequence, Bioinformatics analyses
have emerged as valuable tools for genomic research,
allowing the exploration of new hypotheses in such large
data sets. This course provides an introduction to
bioinformatics and training on various aspects of data
analysis with application to Microbiology. This part of the
course will be conducted by EMBL-EBI trainers.
Researchers from the University of Aveiro, Porto, Coimbra
and other research institutions will present case studies
oriented towards practical applications of up-to-date
bioinformatics tools.
Applicants should be scientists, post-graduation students
(PhD or MSc) or laboratory staff with background in
Biology, Microbiology, Environmental Sciences, or related
fields.
All lectures and training sessions will be held in English.
