studies of the thermal action on the structures
and their behavior under this accidental
situation. In face of the lack of adequate
furnaces to experimental analysis, in Brazil,
the research is developed mainly in the
numerical-computational field. For studies
about structures under high temperatures is
necessary to consider both non-linearities
geometrical and material leading to complex
models.

In view of the research, it was possible to
develop in Brazil a new technological
approach about structures fire safety,
resulting in:
- Brazilian standards: NBR14323 (steel
structures fire design), NBR14432 (structures
fire requirements), NBR15200 (concrete fire
design)
- More than 100 papers
- Dozen of lectures in Brazil
- Specialization course: Fire and explosion
safety management (360 hours)

General description of the Group:
Brazilian researchers of several Universities
compose this Group. Its aim is to search and
to spread out the area of structural fire safety
engineering. It is a new research area in
Brazil. It was initiated in the EPUSP and,
nowadays, has research in more than ten
Brazilian Universities. The Group develops
