Luis Alveirinho joined Portugal Telecom in 1983, after finishing his Graduation in Electronics and
Telecommunications and Master of Science degree in Telecommunications and Computer
Science at the Lisbon Technical University.
Since 1983 he has worked in the areas of “Network Management” and “Network Planning and
Development”.
From 1983 to1985, he was Senior Research engineer at INESC (Instituto de Engenharia de
Sistemas e Computadores, Lisboa) and teacher of Computers and Digital Systems at the Lisbon
Technical University.
As representative of Portugal Telecom, he was technical delegate at the ETSI NA4
standardisation group and member of several European projects of the RACE European
programme (Research and Development on Advanced Communications in Europe) during the
period of 1990-1994.
From 1996 to 1999 he was Director of Network Management and Operational Support Systems,
responsible for the implementation and management of all TMN platforms used by the wireline
business of Portugal Telecom.
During the period of 1999 to 2002 he was Director of Engineering and Network Planning,
responsible for the technical development of all the network platforms and systems in PT
Comunicações.
In 2002 he was appointed for the role of Director of Network Planning and Strategy at PT
Comunicações.
Since May, 2008 he is Director of Network Planning and Implementation of both PT
Comunicações and TMN companies.
Luis Alveirinho is also non-Executive Member of Board of PT Inovação.
