Centros de Investigação
A FCSH/NOVA é hoje a maior e mais diversificada instituição de investigação portuguesa em
Ciências Sociais e Humanas.
O Programa Pedro Hispano – Estudos Doutorais em Ciências Sociais e Humanas – visa promover
a excelência, a interdisciplinaridade e a internacionalização de todos os programas doutorais da
FCSH/NOVA, através da dinamização de várias iniciativas:
- Escola de Inverno em “Research Skills”;
- Conferência de Doutorandos Pedro Hispano;
- Doutoramento Europeu.
Na FCSH/NOVA são acolhidos 17 centros de investigação e pólos de centros interuniversitários.
Destes, 13 centros são financiados pela Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), dos quais
quatro foram classificados com Excelente e oito com Muito Bom.
A crescente comunidade científica da FCSH/NOVA conta hoje com cerca de 1.200 investigadores
integrados e/ou associados aos centros, além de muitos outros colaboradores, estudantes e
bolseiros de investigação.

Decorre atualmente nos centros de investigação uma centena de projetos de investigação fundamental
e aplicada, financiados pela FCT e por várias outras instituições públicas e privadas.
The Pedro Hispano Programme – Doctoral Studies in Social Sciences and Humanities – aims to
foster academic excellence, interdisciplinarity and internationalization of all PhD programmes at
FCSH/NOVA, through a set of joint initiatives:
Research Centres
- The Lisbon Winter School in Research Skills;
- Pedro Hispano Graduate Conference;
- Doctor Europaeus Initiative.
FCSH/NOVA is nowadays the largest and most diverse Portuguese institution carrying out
research in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities.

FCSH/NOVA houses 17 research centres and branches of interuniversity centres. There are 13 funded
by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia),

NOVA Escola Doutoral
Currently, the growing academic community at FCSH/NOVA has about 1 200 researchers who are
integrated and/or associated to a Research Centre, as well as many other co-researchers, students
and research grantholders.
A NOVA Escola Doutoral visa reforçar a formação pessoal e profissional dos doutorandos e
orientadores, através de programas de treino de competências transversais.
There are currently a hundred pure and applied research projects taking place in these research
centres at FCSH/NOVA, funded by FCT and by several other public and private institutions.
