O Homem do Aço 2013 destacou a tenacidade
demonstrada pela AARS junto aos governos federal
e estadual em épocas distintas – quando equalizou
os custos do frete e conseguiu compensar seu valor
via crédito presumido do ICMS. “Esses são exemplos
claros de como a Associação é importante para o
crescimento da indústria do Rio Grande do Sul”,
argumentou. Disposição, aliás, necessária para fazer
frente aos obstáculos ora enfrentados pelo setor
quando o tema é a competitividade.
Para Benjamin Steinbruch, é necessário urgentemente simplificar o sistema tributário, já que a China,
por exemplo, tem políticas tributárias e cambiais extremamente agressivas, o que dá a seus produtores uma
vantagem competitiva enorme. No passado recente,
lembrou, o país abriu suas fronteiras corretamente
para combater a inflação, mas essa política, hoje, teria
efeitos catastróficos para a indústria e a oferta de empregos. “Nos estados Unidos, a economia mais liberal
do mundo, as decisões sobre importações são tomadas
de forma tripartite pelo governo, sindicatos dos trabalhadores e empregadores, de maneira que a entrada
de produtos que podem causar prejuízos à indústria
local e aos empregos é impedida por meio de cotas e
outros mecanismos”, concluiu o Homem do Aço 2013.

The Man of Steel 2013 highlighted the tenacity
shown by the AARS before the federal and state
governments at different times - which led to the
equalization of freight costs, making up to this
value with presumed credit on ICMS/VAT tax.
“These are clear examples of how the Association
is important for the growth of the industry in Rio
Grande do Sul,” he argued. Disposition is, as a
matter of fact, what it takes to tackle the obstacles now faced by the industry when the subject is
competitiveness.
For Benjamin Steinbruch, we need to simplify
the tax system urgently, since China, for example,
has extremely aggressive tax and exchange rate

Cinquenta anos se passaram desde que a nossa
Associação do Aço do Rio Grande do Sul (AARS)
surgiu para defender os pleitos não só do nosso
setor e de nosso estado, mas dos interesses da
indústria nacional. Ao longo das últimas cinco
décadas, a entidade contou em suas fileiras com
muitos colaboradores que fizeram dela o que ela
é até hoje. Fazemos aqui, assim, uma homenagem
a todos aqueles que de alguma forma trabalharam
em prol de seu crescimento e alinhavamos a relação dos empresários que se destacaram no setor
e foram merecedores do troféu Homem do Aço,
instituído pela AARS no ano de 1975.
Fifty years have passed since our Rio
Grande do Sul Steel Association (AARS) emerged to defend the claims not only of the local
industry and of the state of Rio Grande do Sul,
but the interests of the domestic industry as a
whole. Over the past five decades, the entity
had among its members many associates
who made it what it is today. Thus, we would
like to pay tribute to all those who somehow
worked for its growth, and remember the
list of businessmen who have excelled in the
industry and earned the Steel Man Award
created by the AARS in 1975.
