Usability is an essential aspect to guarantee
the full access of the population to egovernment. Accessibility comprises the
access ways to population with physical
deficiencies to e-government. Both aspects
are essential to digital inclusion and
democracy in the information era. The
research themes of the group include
formation and evaluation process of usability
and
accessibility,
digital
inclusion
phenomena, ethical aspects of usability
evaluation close to population and egovernment manifestation in multiple medias.
In 2007, the Project objective has been
extended to the development of interaction
models that could be effective for digitally
excluded people: low or null literacy people,
visually disabled people and deaf people.
Some of the projects activities follow; (a) a
field study about how the target population
actually
uses
information
and
telecommunication
technologies;
(b)
development of a persona model (c) tests of
alternative interaction models (d) prototype
evaluation.
This research project was developed in
partnership with: Prodesp/e-poupatempo, São
Paulo State government, until february; from
october to december, the Project has been
funded by CPqD, under contract and had
participation of two Unicamp groups: IEL –
Instituto de Estudos em Lingüística da
Unicamp and NIED – Núcleo de Informática
na Educação.

The goal of this project is to obtain new
usability evaluation processes and their use in
several
application
areas.
Methods,
techniques and tools are proposed and tested,
looking for construction of human-machine
interfaces with more quality. In particular, the
following themes are being researched:
interface customization, direct evaluation
methods of usability through physiological
measures, situated usability evaluation,
formal process of interface evaluation.

1.5. Software Factory for Engineering
Teaching
This project studies the human-machine
interaction under the reliability perspective,
looking for reliable human operation in
critical systems, especially in aircrafts. The
researches include usability evaluation
methods and simulators in order to obtain a
reliable human performance.

The goal of Software Factory Model is to
define a software development environment
with
effective
productivity
control
mechanisms
and
continuous
quality
improvement. The instantiation of this model
allows creation of another software factory
types, such as web services development,
mobile devices applicative, and learning
objects, for example.
This model was created with focus in small
and medium companies, defining a minimum
and sufficient set of activities. The conceptual
base was the views of ODP (Open
Distributed Processing) standard and the
recommendations of CMM (Capability
Maturity Model) and UP (Unified Process). A
software factory for mobile applicative as a
case study has been created as the
instantiation of the model.

The objective of this project is to teach the
main concepts of software engineering, using
a controlled environment of software factory
simulated in a graduation laboratory. The
established processes allow that student
develop their software project through main
technical and managerial processes of a
software factory, under supervision and
control of lecturers.
The model of this laboratory has been created
from the instantiation of the software factory
model previously elaborated. In order to
make this factory a real one, it was employed
the tool Visual Studio 2005 Team System as a
guide to created processes.

A Semantic Portal is based on the
Semantic Web, in which information is
given with a defined meaning, increasing
the capacity of computers to work in
cooperation with the people. The main
research lines within this project are:
tools specification and construction,
development of an educational portal,
establishment
of
processes
for
construction and use of ontology, study of
adaptive and intelligent interfaces,
software and information reuse, study and
construction of learning objects based
mainly in Scorm and LOM (IEEE)
standards and development of educational
ontology.

The Maturity Environment Project defines a
model for software processes. Its objective is
to be a reference model for all members and
collaborators of the Software Technology
Laboratory, looking for a controlled quality
of the research, teaching and extension
activities.
The processes that are being modeled follow
the
standard
ISO/IEC
12207
and
development, management and quality
assurance processes were selected in the first
phase of the project.. Beyond its use in the
Software Technology Laboratory, this model
can become the base to instantiate processes
in organizations of diverse natures, according
to their business necessities.
The Software Quality is based on studying
software models, metrics and standards where
the organizational, management, engineering
and support processes are discussed.

The treatment of non-functional requirements
in software system development is a great
research objective in the requirements
engineering area.
This research line generated in past years
doctoral thesis, considering the testability,
safety,
usability
and
maintainability
requirements. Another research activity is
related to the software architecture
development, with the inclusion of nonfunctional requirements and their treatment
through the aspects oriented technique.

the system, since initial requirements to
implementation. It is possible to detect their
relationship with the business processes that
define the software development context.

In model driven software development the
models are considered main artefacts in all
phases of development. Each model
represents one or more phase specific aspects
and transformations among models allow a
high automation level of software code
generation. In this context, transformations
are also models and they are also key
elements to model driven approach. Problems
and solutions must be treated rigorously to
make the automation feasible. The main
research topics are: specific languages to
represent the artifacts of each phase, specific
languages
to
represent
model
transformations, their semantics, properties
and structure mechanism, transformation
reuse and transformation formal verification,
etc.
