ANNOUNCEMENT TO THE MARKET
TRACTEBEL ENERGIA S.A., a publicly-held corporation with head offices in the City of Florianópolis,
State of Santa Catarina, at Rua Antônio Dib Mussi, 366, duly enrolled with the Brazilian corporate
taxpayers’ register (CNPJ) under number 02.474.103/0001-19, (traded on the BOVESPA’s Novo
Mercado under the ticker TBLE3), the largest private power generator in Brazil, is proud to announce to
its shareholders and the market in general that it continues to be part of the Bovespa Corporate
Sustainability Index (ISE), fact that occurs per the fourth consecutive year, therefore, since the first
edition.
The participants of the new portfólio were selected amongst the 51 companies that answered the
questionnaire prepared by the Centro de Estudos em Sustentabilidade (GVCes) from the Escola de
Administração de Empresas de São Paulo da Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV-EAESP). In 2008, 137
companies were invited, in the universe of the 150 more liquid shares of the BM&FBOVESPA.
The 38 shares from the 30 participant companies of the new portfolio, in effect from December 1, 2008,
to November 30, 2009 amount to R$ 372 billion in market value.
Created in 2005 by the BOVESPA in partnership with ABRAPP, ANBID, APIMEC, IBGC, IFC, the
ETHOS Institute and the Ministry of the Environment, the ISE reflects the return of a portfolio composed
of shares of companies committed to sustainability and which present the best performance regarding to
economic efficiency, environmental balance, social justice, the nature of the companies’ products and
corporate governance.
