LIPOR participates at an event in Brazil
A convite da Delegação da União Europeia no Brasil e no âmbito do Programa ENV - TAIEF (Environmental Technical
Assistance and Information Exchange Facility), a LIPOR participou no III Encontro dos Municípios com o
Desenvolvimento Sustentável (III EMDS), organizado pela Frente Nacional dos Prefeitos, em parceria com o SEBRAE, de
7 a 9 de abril de 2015, no Centro de Convenções Ulysses Guimarães, em Brasília.
Com o objetivo de partilhar boas práticas e conhecimento, este foi um importante contributo para a reflexão dos
Prefeitos brasileiros sobre a implementação de políticas e estratégias sustentáveis na área da gestão dos resíduos, com a
demonstração dos resultados de um caso prático de sucesso, a LIPOR.
A LIPOR teve a oportunidade de apresentar a sua experiencia, durante 3 momentos distintos:
- Na Conferência Internacional Cidades Sustentáveis – Políticas Públicas Inovadoras, com a participação do Engº
Alexandre Ventura na Mesa Temática Consumo Sustentável;
- No III Encontro dos Municípios com o Desenvolvimento Sustentável, com a participação de Susana Abreu na Mesa
Temática “Manejo dos Resíduos Sólidos”;
- No III Encontro dos Municípios com o Desenvolvimento Sustentável, com a dinamização de uma sessão de trabalho,
no Auditório da Praça de Boas Praticas, subordinada ao tema "Experiencia intermunicipal e comunitária na gestão,
valorização e tratamento dos resíduos urbanos do Grande Porto", a cargo de Susana Abreu e Alexandre Ventura.
Foi ainda promovida uma apresentação sobre a prática da sustentabilidade no Município de Matosinhos com o tema
“Cidades Inteligentes: Sistema de Gestão e Informação Ambiental de Matosinhos”, participação assegurada pela
Dr.ª Joana Felício, Vereadora do Município de Matosinhos (Portugal).
Invited by the European Union Delegation in Brazil and in the range of the ENV – TAIEF (Environmental Technical
Assistance and Information Exchange Facility) Program, LIPOR toke part in the Municipalities Meeting with the Sustainable
Development (III EMDS), organized by the Mayors National Front, in partnership with SEBRAE, from 7th to 9th April, at the
Convention Center Ulysses Guimarães in Brasília.
Aiming to share knowledge and good practices, this was an important contribution for the reflection of the Brazilian Mayors about
the implementation of sustainable politics and strategies regarding waste management, showing the results of a success LIPOR
case.
LIPOR had the opportunity to present its experience, in three different moments:

In the Sustainable Cities International Conference – Innovative Public Politics, with the participation of Alexandre Ventura
in the Thematic Table Sustainable Consumption;

In the 3rd Municipalities Meeting with the Sustainable Development, with the participation of Susana Abreu in the
Thematic Table “Solid Waste Handling”;
-
In the 3rd Municipalities Meeting with the Sustainable Development, with the promotion of a working session, at the
Good Practices Square Auditorium, entitled “Inter Municipal and Community Experience in the Urban Waste Treatment and
Valorization in Porto Area”, carried out by Susana Abreu and Alexandre Ventura.
Was even promoted a presentation about the practice of sustainability in Matosinhos Municipality with the theme
“Intelligent Cities: Matosinhos Environmental Information and Management System” with the participation of Joana
Felício, Matosinhos Municipality Councilwoman.
LIPOR reforça contactos no Brasil
LIPOR reinforces contacts in Brazil
No âmbito da recente deslocação ao Brasil para participação no III Encontro dos Municípios com o Desenvolvimento
Sustentável, a LIPOR aproveitou a oportunidade para estreitar relações com entidades brasileiras de referência do setor
de resíduos.
Foram promovidas várias reuniões de trabalho com responsáveis pelo Serviço de Limpeza Urbana (SLU) do Governo
do Distrito Federal, pela Secretaria de Recursos Hídricos e Ambiente Urbano do Ministério do Meio Ambiente, pelo
Ministério das Cidades, pela Delegação da EU no Brasil, entre outras.
Foi ainda promovida uma visita técnica ao lixão de Brasília, o maior lixão da América Latina, que representa um foco
de grandes problemas ambientais, sociais e de segurança para a região. Este local, que existe desde a década de 60,
alberga cerca de 35 milhões de toneladas de resíduos, numa área de 180 ha. Mais de 2.000 catadores vivem da renda
que o lixão lhes proporciona.
A agenda de trabalho foi muito profícua, tendo permitido identificar potencialidades para uma futura cooperação da
LIPOR com entidades de referência do Brasil.
In the context of the recent travel to Brazil to participate in the III meeting of Municipalities with sustainable development, Lipor
took the opportunity to strengthen relationships with Brazilian entities of reference in the waste sector.
Were promoted several working meetings with responsible for the Urban Cleaning Service (SLU) of the Federal District
Government, for the Hydric Resources and Urban Environmental Secretary from the Environmental Ministry, for the Cities Ministry
and for the EU Delegation in Brazil, among others.
Were even promoted visits to the Brasília Dump (Uncontrolled Landfill), the biggest dump of Latin America, that represent
a big environmental, social and safety problem, to the region. The dump that exists since sixties, have about 35 million tons of
waste, in an area of 180 ha. More than 2000 collectors live of the income that the waste gives.
The working agenda was very fruitful, allowing identifying potentiality for a future cooperation between LIPOR and Brazil
reference entities.
