MODEL ENTRANCE TEST PAPER-2010
ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN PORTUGUESE
Time: 2 hrs
The Written Test will be of 85 marks. It will consist of 3 parts.
Part A will consist of a comprehension exercise.The students will be required to read
and understand a given text and answer questions based on the text.
Example of a comprehension text:
A nova face do Alentejo
Uma das melhores alturas para viajar o Alentejo é no fim do Inverno, quando as
primeiras flores silvestres começam a despontar.Os campos vestem-se de colorido e a
aroma é quase inebriante. Por isso pegue na família e rume à planície. A zona que hoje
lhe sugerimos para passar o fim-de-semana mudou muito nos últims tempos, devido aos
efeitos que a subida do nível das aguas da barragem de Alqueva provocou. Houve
montes e vales que ficaram inundados, herdades e casarios que simplesmente
submergiram.A Aldeia da Luz já não existe, mas aquela que a substuiu é uma cópia
muito aproximada da que foi terraplenada antes das águas a submergirem, poupando
assim mais desgaste emocional às populações aí residentes. Agora, extensos
quilómetros de planicie estão transformados naquele que já é o maior lago artificial da
Europa.
Part B will consist of grammar exercises encompassing Present and Past tenses. In the
first question the student will be required to make sentences with given words or to
explain the meaning of words in Portuguese.
Example: Make sentences with:
acrecentar
limitar-se
restituir
marcar
This part will also consist of a passage with blanks to be filled in with appropriate form
of verbs.
Example:
Preencha os espaços com os seguintes verbos :chamar, ir, dizer, justificar, abrir, fazer,
escrever
O inquilino não …..(ir) a casa da senhoria e não …… a renda. Ele ……. ………. uma
carta e ………… o atraso. A senhoria já ………….. que não estava disposta a
continuar a suportar a situação, mas ainda não ….. ………….. valer os direitos que a lei
lhe conferia.
Part C will consist of the writing of a passage of about 100 words on a given topic in
Portuguese.
Example. Write a passage on a cidade da que eu gosto in about 100 words.
The test-paper will be of 85 marks. Those qualifying the written test will be called
for interview (15 marks).
