JOSÉ MANUEL PEREIRA DE ALMEIDA, nasceu em Lisboa em 1952.
Ordenado presbítero em 1986, é Pároco de Santa Isabel, Lisboa, desde
1999 e Vigário da Vigararia III (Lisboa Ocidental) desde 2001. Assistente
Eclesiástico da Comissão Nacional Justiça e Paz desde 2002. Secretário da
Comissão Episcopal da Pastoral Social desde 2005 e Assistente Religioso da
Cáritas Portuguesa desde 2009.
Médico (Universidade de Lisboa, 1976) especialista de Anatomia Patológica
do Instituto Português de Oncologia de Lisboa Francisco Gentil, EPE,
Laboratório de Citologia (até 2009). Doutorado em Teologia (Universidade
Gregoriana, Roma, 1999). Membro da Comissão de Ética para a
Investigação Clínica (CEIC) desde a sua criação em 2005 até 2008 (primeiro
mandato). Membro da Comissão de Ética da Faculdade de Ciências Médicas de Lisboa. Professor de
Teologia Moral Social da Faculdade de Teologia da Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) desde
2003; Professor de Doutrina Social da Igreja no Instituto de Estudos Políticos da UCP desde 2009.
Membro do Conselho Científico do Instituto de Bioética da UCP. Membro da Sociedade Científica da
UCP. Pertence ao Conselho da Direcção da revista Didaskalia à Redacção da edição portuguesa de
Communio.

D.Phil on Theology (Gregorian University, Rome, 1999). Member of the
(state) Ethics Committee for Clinical Research (CEIC) since its inception in
2005 until 2008. Member of the Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Medical
Sciences of Lisbon. Professor of Moral Social Theology Faculty of the
Catholic University of Portugal since 2003. Professor of Social Teaching of the Church at the Institute
for Political Studies of the Catholic University of Portugal since 2009.
Member of Scientific Council of the Institute for Bioethics of the Catholic University of Portugal.
Member of the Scientific Society of the Catholic University of Portugal. He belongs to the Board of the
magazine Didaskalia and to the Editorial Board the Portuguese edition of Communio.
