Isabel Fernandes Silva is the Head of the Language and Translation Department of
Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, as well as the director of the department’s research
institute, Centre for Studies in Linguistics, Comparative and TEL Studies, currently
being implemented.
She holds a PhD in Contemporary English Literature by the University of Salamanca
and is currently preparing her post-doctorate.
She has been teaching English as a Foreign Language since 1986 at university level as
well as in vocational courses.
Since 2006, she has been developing blended-learning courses, being responsible for
course materials and syllabi.
Her academic interests include ICT and language learning/teaching, technologyenhanced learning, translation, and multimodality.
