Press release February 2015 SP-‐ARTE ANNOUNCES THE LIST OF GALLERIES FOR ITS MAIN SECTION ON THE 2015 EDITION SP-Arte, the leading Latin American art fair, will return in 2015 for its 11th edition from April 9–12 in São Paulo, Brazil at the Ciccillo Matarazzo pavilion, designed by Pritzker laureate, Oscar Niemeyer. SP-Arte/2015 will host over 140 of the world’s most prominent modern and contemporary galleries from 17 countries. Highlights for 2015 include 112 galleries in the Main sector showing works by established artists from around the world throughout the Bienal Pavilion. The 2015 edition will also include the third year of the Showcase sector, a section highlighting works by up to 3 emerging artists. The Solo section will also return for its second edition, this time curated by María Inés Rodriguéz (capc/Musée d’Art Contemporain de Bordeaux) as well as Rodrigo Moura (Inhotim director). SP-Arte is proud to announce the first year of Open Plan, a section dedicated to installations curated by Cuenca Biennial curator, Jacopo Crivelli Visconti and Performa, a new section coordinated by Cauê Alves, curator of the Brazil Pavilion in the 56th Venice Biennale, and curated by Marcos Galon, curator of the Verbo Performance Festival, and Juliana Moraes, professor of performance of the Belas Artes University in São Paulo. There will also be a new Talks program coordinated with the Brazilian art magazine, Arte!Brasileiros that will be organizing focused panel discussions for the event. PARTICIPATING GALLERIES SP-Arte continues to expand its international reach with participating artists and galleries from countries such as Austria, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, United States of America, United Kingdom and Uruguay alongside more than 80 galleries from Brazil. This year, the main section will present 86 returning galleries including Gagosian Gallery, David Zwirner, Lisson Gallery, Marian Goodman Gallery, Mendes Wood, Luisa Strina and Vermelho 12 new galleries will participate for the first time such as Goodman Gallery, The Approach, Broadway 1602 and Alexander Gray Associates. She formerly headed the artistic program of the Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo (muac) in Mexico City. From November 2009-2011, María Inés Rodríguez was the Chief Curator of the Museo de Arte Con- temporáneo de Castilla y León (Spain). During 2008-2009, she has been the Curator of Satellite program at Jeu de Paume, Paris, as well as the Editor of the French art publication Point d’Ironie in Paris. As an independent curator and art critic, she has worked on exhibitions and research projects on the strategies of appropriation of the public space in different spaces of contemporary art, which relate the art, the design, the architecture and the urbanism. Rodrigo Moura is the art and cultural director of Inhotim, a museum and botanical garden located in the Brazilian stae of Minas Gerais. He joined as an assistant curator and coordinated site-specific works by artists such as Jorge Macchi, Marilá Dardot and Rivane Neuenschwander. He also worked as the curator of Museu de Arte da Pampu- lha, in Belo Horizonte. As a journalist, editor and art critic, he had pieces published by Folha de S. Paulo, Flash Art International and Art Nexus, among others. About the Open Plan section curator Jacopo Crivelli Victonti is a curator and writer. He was curator of the xii Cuenca Biennial in Ecuador and he has been responsible for exhibitions such as the Brazilian Pavilion in the 52nd Biennale di Venezia in 2007; Sismógrafo at Palácio das Artes de Belo Horizonte; and Ponto de equilíbrio at the Instituto Tomie Ohtake. About the Talks program Arte!Brasileiros, will organise the talks program at the 2015 edition of the fair. Arte!Brasileiros is a bimonthly bi-lingual magazine on Brazilian and international art. The magazine is also well known for its international seminar Arte!Brasileiros, which gathers experts to discuss important topics in the art world.
