Story of the Journal
This pedagogical journal was founded by Franz Hilker in 1948. From the mid 1960s on a committee of editors took responsibility for the journal. Its members are in charge of special fields regarding subject matter. At the beginning the contents were guided by the ideas of the progressive educational movement and its liberal understanding. At the same time pedagogical documentary research was of particular importance. Furthermore an increasing interest in intercultural topics was
ascertainable (above all with regard to the USA, later on to Eastern Europe and other regions too)
as well as a pronounced interest in the process of developing educational policy and planning. At
the beginning of the 1970s the journal established topically priorities. In this decade the comparison of the two German political systems (Federal Republic of Germany – German Democratic
Republic) was an important issue. Viewed in the context of the reform of the education system
questions of theories of learning and curriculum as well as classroom research were relevant aspects. Besides a retrospective view and a critical analysis of the preceding reform processes methodical discussions dominated in the 1980s. In the 1990s a large number of articles dealt with topics concerning the German reunification as well as processes of European integration. At present
the journal has a focus on current pedagogical challenges.
Proposal and goals
This quarterly focuses on the study of education and formation in relation to social and cultural
changes over time and from both national and international perspectives. Special attention is given
to the following: the relationship between theory and practice in the process of developing educational policy, as well as in real situations in school and through the life-span; an interdisciplinary
approach to pedagogical issues; the historical foundations of current events and developments;
international and intercultural comparisons. The journal publishes also English-language contributions, and an English summary precedes each of the German-language essays. All contributions are
peer-reviewed.

Story of the Journal
"Profesorado. Journal of Curriculum and Teacher Education", edited since 1997 by the Research
Group "School-Based Teacher Education". Publishes three issues per year (April, July and December), directed by Full Professor Antonio Bolívar of Curriculum and School Organisation. The
Journal has been making its own field in the Spanish educational world. Has become a leading
Spanish journals in the area of Didactics and School Organization. Paper was published until 2003,
since then it's just on line. In the last period, under the direction of Professor Antonio Bolívar, has
made a firm commitment to quality, adopting the applicable formats in scientific journals and demanding, for the publication of any article, peer review ( "double -blind reviewing procedure"). We
have made a firm commitment to continue to increase their quality, the entry in the relevant database "Scopus", assessment FECYT and other quality stocks we are preparatory steps for inclusion
in the "Social Sciences Citation Index of the ISI Web of Knowledge"
Proposal and goals
Profesorado is an interdisciplinary scholar academic journal addressed to researchers and professionals in the broad field of education. Our goal is to promote scientific-professional debate,
the exchange of ideas and the dissemination of research results.
We address topics related to Initial Teacher Training and Professional Development, Curriculum
Development and Educational Innovation, Educational Technology, School Organization, Special
Education, Intercultural Education and Specific Didactics, among other prevalent research areas.
We welcome people with studies and experiences in these topics, both at a regional or national level and at an international level (especially those related to Latin American and European topics).
154
Our issues normally comprise a corpus of studies on a determined subject and a corpus of contributions on various subjects (miscellaneous). In addition, they include a section covering reviews of
current books and reports of relevant research studies.
Our journal welcomes unpublished papers and contributions by professionals in the field of education, including papers based on research reports, theoretical essays or professional experiences related to the topics previously mentioned.
The journal is published in Spanish and papers originally written in a different language are published both in Spanish and in the original language (any official language of the EU). In such cases,
an icon (normally a flag) gives access to the version written in the original language. We have published three issues every year since 2007: in April, July and December.

Story of the Journal:
Educação e Pesquisa is a journal published every three months by the Faculdade de Educação at
the Universidade de São Paulo — FEUSP (School of Education at the University of São Paulo,
founded in 1969). Published since 1975, the journal welcomes articles in Portuguese, Spanish, and
English, with abstracts in the original language and also in English. The journal publishes original
articles and research reports in education, as well as book reviews, special documents, and translations made by teachers and researchers from the University, and also from other institutions.
159
Proposal and goals:
Education and Research publishes only previously unpublished articles in the field of education and
does not consider manuscripts concurrently submitted for publication in books or other periodicals in Brazil or abroad. Manuscripts are assessed first by the members of the editorial board. The
manuscripts which do not comply with the editorial criteria of the journal are returned to their authors. The others are assessed by reviewers appointed by the editorial board. Manuscripts must be
submitted via the journal's page in SciELO publishing system (http://www.scielo.org/php/ index.php). The time frame necessary for submissions to complete the review process – and be selected or rejected – varies according to the complexity of the reviews and possible changes suggested and implemented. The dates of receipt and approval of each article are stated in the published text. For each of the journal's issues, the editorial board establishes the criteria of organization of the articles approved.

Story of the Journal:
La revue Recherche et formation est éditée par l'INRP depuis 1987. Afin de répondre aux besoins de la
communauté scientifique, la collection éditée est mise à disposition en ligne, à l'exception des numéros
publiés durant les quatre dernières années qui sont proposés à la vente. Elle est actuellement éditée par
les services de publications de l'Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon, après l'intégration de l'Institut Français d'Education (ex-INRP) dans cette structure.
Proposal and goals
(AERES).

Story of the Journal:
The Journal REDU was born as a bulletin, headed to the partners (the institutional and the individual ones) of the 'Red Estatal de Docencia Universitaria' (State Network of University Teaching),
which was created in 2002. The initial bulletin included texts, news and announcements of formative activities offered by the Network. Later, it gained autonomy regarding the actions of the Network and it consolidated as a scientific magazine specialized in University Teaching. The big leap
has appeared in 2010: the Journal adopted a new section structure, incorporating the processes and
conditions of the on-line journals- OJS (Open Journal System)-, with double blind peer reviews,
and being submitted to the evaluations of the diverse indexing systems. This new effort has carried
it to become the most consulted Higher Education Journal among the ones which are published in
Spanish, according to Google Scholar.
Proposal and goals:
The Journal REDU, was born like a resource of debate and exchange of investigations and experiences between the professors of all the specialties. Its central axis is the UNIVERSITY TEACHING PRACTICE and all the factors that condition the processes of teaching and learning in
Higher Education.
Three aims have marked the history of REDU as a journal:
1) So situate the university teaching in the researchers, thinkers, agents and teachers' agenda.
2) To generate a theoretical speech about the university teaching, generated from the professors'
experience of all the specialties.
3) To open a course of exchange of ideas and experiences between European and Latin American
professors, without excluding others from different countries.

The magazine RELADEI was born two years ago, which is not enough time for its incorporation
into the various impact indexes. It is currently in the process of recognition in diverse databases.
Story of the Journal
The magazine RELAdEI is the Journal of the Instituto Latinoamericano de Estudios de la Infancia,
ILAdEI (Latin American Institute for the Study of Childhood) founded in 2012 in Santiago de
Compostela. This Institute was created to consolidate and provide an institutional channel for international exchanges, especially in the Latin American context, between different groups working
around the early childhood research and practices. The magazine claimed to be the main contribution of the Institute as a vehicle of communication between researchers, practitioners and managers linked to the world of childhood.
In its two years of life, the magazine RELAdEI has covered topics of high level of impact such as
the policies for Early Childhood, the training of professionals in Early Childhood Education, the
assessment of quality of services for children, the Early Childhood pedagogies, the spaces and
times in Early Childhood Education, and so on.
Despite its short existence, Reladei has become a valuable and valued resource of communication
between academics and professionals working about Childhood in the large and varied Latin
American context.
Proposal and goals
The world of early childhood education, particularly in the Latin American context, does not usually have a significant presence in the field of scientific journals. There are many magazines but,
mostly, are more professional than scientific, more linked to the practice than to the research.
RELAdEI was born with the purpose of integrating both profiles. Researchers need high-level
journals to publish their work (basic requirement for academic growth); professionals and manag-
173
ers need spaces in which to contact with educational and cultural experiences that would serve
them as model of reference and contrast. And going even beyond these partial purposes, both
worlds, research and practice, need to share opportunities for communication and knowledge
transfer. For this purpose the magazine RELAdEI was created.
The main objectives of the journal may be summarized as follows:
1) Become an international and multilingual journal with a recognized level of impact that will
serve researchers and scholars to publish their work.
2) To serve as a device for communication and exchange of "best practices" in both the field of
Early Childhood Education and that one of the management of institutions, services and policies
for children.
3) To open a channel of communication and exchange of ideas and experiences among academics, researchers and practitioners from Europe and Latin America.
4) To take advantage of the benefits offered by online magazines to develop a free but contentrich multimedia (able of combining text, sound and images), that are easily accessible (available to
all schools and all professionals wherever they are located).
We believe that, at the moment, we can be satisfied because, despite the short time since the birth
of the journal, the four objectives are being fully met.
